ISLAMIC TITLES...???

I have a doubt.....hope that some one would help me INSHA ALLAH....
We..say,
Alaihissalaam...to the prophets and Angles....right?
but what about Imaam Mahdi???? I heard some one saying the same title to him too....
im confused...
can any one tell me about these titles? Im sure there must be some ruling on it...

Assalamou Alikom Warahmatou Allah,

The shia uses that kind of appellation when they talk about the 12 imams since they attribute some divine power to them. I had once a conversation with a shia person and he said to me that the 12 imams are by far more important then the prophets themselves peace be upon them !!!!

As far as I know we do not call him by any title since he is neither a prophet nor a companion. Just imam Al-Mahdi !

Ya i go wid adam muslim, infact we shudn't use alayhis salaam, as Prophet Muhammad-sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the seal of the Prophets. but usually with Imams its rahmatullah alayh.
