Fascist Attack Mosque in Russia
As the discussion over Islamophobia continues in the Western world, a new attack targeting Muslims took place in Moscow.
A group of people threw Molotov cocktails at a mosque in the Yaroslavi district of Moscow, where discrimination has increases dramatically. The small fire caused by the Molotov cocktail was put off by officers. The incident is reported to be the second attack the same place in the last five days.
The attackers drew swastikas on the walls of the mosque and chanted racist slogans.
Yeroslav mosque Imam Rustem Batrov condemned the attack, saying: “The attackers want fascism and, unfortunately, these people have forgotten the struggle that their ancestors made against fascism in order to leave them this country.”
Synagogues in Moscow have been previously subject to racist attacks. The perpetrators, who were reported to be 17 and 18-year-old university students, were detained after the attacks.
