NAZARETH, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation government has decided to nix the PA unity government, boycott it, and to tighten the economic sanctions imposed on it more than a year ago.

During the Israeli occupation government’s weekly meeting Sunday, Israeli premier Ehud Olmert issued “strict” orders of boycotting all ministers of the PA unity government regardless of their political affiliations, and limiting contacts to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas only.

He alleged that the political program of the PA unity government didn't include any “positive change”, and that it was sanctioning Palestinian resistance against Israel, which, he added, contradicted earlier pledges made by Abbas to halt Palestinian missile attacks on Israeli settlements.

Nevertheless, Olmert’s government appeared to be worried over a possible crack in the US-led international embargo on the Palestinian people as evident in the EU declared satisfaction with the formation of the PA unity government.

Channel 10 in the Israeli TV described the Israeli lobbying in Europe to keep the embargo intact as “swift”, and revealed that the Israeli occupation government was anxious over the dithering USA position in this regard.

Furthermore, the Israeli occupation government decided not to release seized PA tax revenue money, which is estimated at more than 800 million dollars, unless the PA unity government heeds demands set by the Quartet, namely: recognizing the Israeli occupation government, rejecting resistance, and agreeing to previous deals signed between PLO and Israel.

Source of anxiety:
But the Hebrew daily newspaper opined otherwise as it raised doubts over Israel’s ability to maintain the West’s boycott to the Palestinians, adding that a number of EU countries had swiftly welcomed the PA unity government and promised to deal with it.

According to the paper, Israel’s efforts in this direction had totally failed, and that even in the USA there were voices supporting “partial” contacts with “selected” ministers of the PA unity government.

On Sunday, Norway, an EU member, recognized the PA unity government, and decided to break the one-year-old economic blockade on the Palestinian people in addition to normalizing ties with it.

France, for its part, had officially invited foreign minister in the PA unity government Dr. Ziyad Abu Amre to visit Paris for talks.

French premier Dominique De Villepin had publicly called on the EU to resume transferring money to the PA unity government.
Germany, meanwhile, expressed readiness to normalize relations with the PA unity government once the political program of that government and actions on the ground found to be “reflecting” the Quartet’s demands.

Hamas could recognise Israel's right to exist tomorrow, but if they, or any other Arab or Muslim group, adds the proviso "within the '67 borders" they may as well be whistling in the wind for all the good it'll do them.
