Assalamu'alaykum Warahmatullah,

Introducing myself, My name is Jawad from London. Im a college student, 18 and ive been reading from this site for many months. But i only just registered because i felt like contributing to a specific thread about a BBC show called "The Retreat".

But Anyway, i have one quick question. Arent these emoticons representing Allahs creation Haram? e.g.:shymuslima1: I understand that photos taken with cameras are ok since they merely freeze and image onto a film media. Any comments?

The emoticons - I don't know, I think opinion is divided or uncomfirmed. If you are not happy with them don't use them, I think is the best advice insha'allah.

welcome to the site. Glad you decided to stop lurking and join in. This is the best way to help the site. As for the emoticons, I am not certain. I am sure one or more of those more knowledgable about the deen will quickly lend a response to that one. I am not certain, so I don't use them.
