:wasalam: YA akhil kareem,
You are right but remember what ALLAH SAID TO THE HOLY PROPHET. ' WAD'U ILASABILI RABBIKA BIL HIKIMATI WAL MAUIZATIL HASANA'
Also, remember the historical incident that led the revelation of Q80.
While your argument that many celebrities do not adhere strictly to the sunnah may hold some water, you have to take into consideration the atmosphere and conditions inside which these people were living prior to embracing islam.
NASIR :salam2:

Did u quote the verse correctly?

Here is an e-mail that one of my friends wrote about this issue:

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Did Michael Jackson die as a Muslim?

"The short answer? It’s hard to say.

The long answer? Initially it began with rumors years back that he had joined the Nation of Islam. On top of that, Jermaine Jackson, his brother, is a known and confirmed Sunni Muslim, which added another ingredient in the mix..."

However, let's not let this news be of something shocking as all of the Sons of Adam have an appointed time and this was his time. Rather, this should serve as a reminder to each and every single one of us.

How many of us predicted his time?
How many of us knew of this in the past?
How many of us knew his fate?
Did any of his children, money, or fame avail him at the time of death?

And SubhanAllah! we start thinking about others and forget that we are just as uncertain about our time as we were of his.

Know O Muslim! You have an appointed time with Allah (subhanawata'alaa), and the Angel of Death will pay us ALL a visit, regardless of our money, status, wishes, or plans. One of the righteous predecessor had said:

"The Angle of Death overlooked you to take the souls of your brothers. And one day he will come to you and overlook others".

Let us not let this world and all of its pleasures distract us from the purpose of our creation, which is to worship Allah (subhanawata'alaa). And once the Angel of Death comes for our soul, there will be no, "if's" or "buts" rather it will be only regret and humiliation for the one who was disobedient to his Lord and excitement and contentment for the one who used to fear his Lord. It is He who gave us life and will cause us to die and will again bring us out of our graves, and to him we shall return.

We should know and always remember that no matter how much wealth, status, big homes, and luxuries that one has, his time will come where he will enter that little black hole (the grave). Laa Haww wa La Quuwataa Ilaa Billah; from all the money, not a penny will help you, and none shall take your place, nothing will avail you except your Obedience to your Creator.

Allah (subhanawata'alaa) says in the Qur'an in Surah Takathur:
أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ (meaning): The mutual rivalry of piling up of worldly things diverts you! (from the remembrance of Allah)
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ (meaning): Until you visit the Graves! (i.e. till you die!)
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (meaning): Nay! You shall come to know!

Allah, The Exalted and Most High, is telling us, we are too busy, piling up, gaining, accumulating and counting our money, wealth, luxuries, and forgetting Allah, while he is the one who has given us all this to test us. And Brothers and Sisters, we are failing the test.
UNTIL, we die and enter that little black hole, and it will be clear to us and regret will be on the faces who were too "busy" and arrogant to worship their Lord. And then we will know what is the reward or what is the punishment in accordance to what we used to do.

Ask yourself:
Are you too busy for Allah, while he has given all that you have?
Are you too arrogant to worship Allah, while he is the one who gave you life & will cause you to die?
Is five times daily Salaah too much, while you are blessed with blessings which cannot be enumerated?
Are you spending time on the TV, with sports, music, and friends, while you cannot spare 5 minutes for Allah?

No, Wallahi!

To Allah we Belong, and to Him we shall Return!

Let us all return to Allah (subhanawata'alaa), remember him with a much needed remembrance. Let us come back to Allah (subhanawata'alaa) and come back to the Salaah, because verily, it is the Salaah that differentiates the believer and non-believer. We ask Allah to accept our repentance and accept our deeds, and we seek refuge in Allah from the trials/temptations of this world and from the punishment of the grave.

"Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things.
Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving" [67:1-2]

Jazakallah Kher. I ask Allah to serve this as a reminder for myself and all the Muslim brothers and sisters, and may Allah help us to remember Him, thank Him, and worship Him in the best of manners.
