Just wondering...

Apologies if this is not how things are done, but I don't know a lot about Islam as of now. (Am learning from reading your posts here, and a few other Islamic forums)

I am curious about a few things but embarrassed to ask here in front of the whole forum because some of my questions are probably considered very ignorant. Is there someone I can PM with questions so that I don't embarrass myself? I assume it would need to be a female, correct me please if I am wrong..

i assume that like most women you want to find out more about the hijaab and women's rights. there's a "sister's club" room if you look around. when you click on it, it should take you to a page which shows "brother's club" and "sisters's club". you can join the sister's club for women sensitive issues. alternatively it contains the names of moderators also so you can pm them if you want.

sorry if it seemed like we were making fun of you or something. its not like that. we're all like brothers and sisters over here :). we squabble like brothers and sisters, but ofcourse if God forbid, something bad happens to someone or someone's relative then we start making dua for that person and try to offer as much condolence as we can.

we don't make fun of your ignorance. ofcourse you're learning so the questions seem so basic that they seem funny to me (atleast). not funny-ignorant. its actually funny-good. some others might not find it funny at all and would be of much help to you. i'm sorry if it seemed otherwise but people over here are actually very helpful.

Hi :)

No no, I didn't feel like anyone was making fun of me or anything like that. It's just some of the questions I have (not all are hijaab related) feel a little like something a child might ask, lol. But I am quite honestly nearly clueless about many points of Islam, so I would like to ask them. It's just I'm very shy to ask in front of a large group, especially full of very learned people, which is why I asked about PMing someone and talking privately through PM.

I did see that Sisters Club while browsing the forum actually. But I assumed one would actually have to be a Muslim sister to join the sisters club and I didn't want to intrude. But if it's alright then I'll do so. :) Thanks for the advice and for being very helpful.

might i suggest you also try reading the Quran? it may answer some of your questions. (no not the arabic, the translation) its also better to post your questions on the main forum. that way the really knowledgeable people can answer you so you get all the facts rather than missing in one to one sessions coz sometimes the answerer may not have an answer in mind.

e.g. why is alcohol forbidden in islam?

guy 1: coz it causes liver damage

guy2: coz it causes memory loss by damaging brain cells

guy3: coz it makes you drunk

guy4: coz it gives you bad hangovers

guy5: coz it can induce drunk driving and somebody might get hurt

guy6: it causes depression

guy7: it causes domestic violence

guy8: it causes loss of inhibition

and so on.

u get the idea. its better to have all the answers from many rather than some from one.
