The Eating And Drinking Of The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)

His (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) normal food is now called “a special diet.” People spend thousands of dollars to learn what Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) already taught us.
- He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) used to eat natural and “organic”
o Olive oil (with some salt)
o Rye bread (very healthy)
o Honey
o Milk
o Yogurt
o Butter
Dates
o Meat
- However he(sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) never ate all of this in one meal – that would have been a feast. Today, we see this and what to know if these are just the appetizers.
- He(sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) used to eat that which was available and didn't wish for what wasn't there and never criticized food and he used to eat leftovers. What's the problem with leftovers? If the prophet loved it, what's wrong with that?
- The prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) went hungry and he filled his stomach; he thirsted and drank; he hosted and he was a guest to others.
- The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said, “The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls, to keep him going. If he must do that (fill his stomach), then let him fill one third with food, one third with drink and one third with air.” (Tirmidhi)

o If you have to leave the table with a desire for the food, that's good.
o And it's 1/3 of the average, and for all of the food, not just the main course.
o Is it permissible to eat until I fill my stomach? It‟s permissible every now and then.

Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallah Anhum) relates: "By Allah, except whom there is no God, during the days of the Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) I used to press my stomach against the ground due to extreme hunger, or I used to tie a stone over it. One day I was sitting by the side of a public thoroughfare when the Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) passed by me. On seeing me he smiled and recognized from my face my condition (that I was hungry). He called "Abahir" (meaning Abu Hurayra) and I responded: 'I am here, O Messenger of Allah'. He said: 'Come along with me' and he walked on; I followed him.
On reaching home he sought permission of the inmates, and entered, and also permitted me to enter in the house. He found a cup full of milk, and asked the inmates 'From where has this milk come? They said: 'It is a present for you from some gentleman or lady.' He called me 'Abahir' and I responded: 'I am here, O Messenger of Allah'. He said: Go and call my Suffah Companions.' These companions were the guests of the Muslims, who had no house, no property, no friends or relatives with whom they could live. As such they were guests of all Muslims. Whenever the Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) received something as charity he used to send it to them and would not retain anything out if it for himself (as charity was forbidden for him and his family). However, whenever he received something as a gift he would send for them and shared it with them.
But on this occasion I did not like his invitation to them, and thought: 'How would this milk suffice so many? I deserve this more than others, as by drinking it I might gain some energy. When these companions of the Suffah would come, the Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) will ask me
to serve the milk to them. When they start drinking I do not think that anything would be left for me out of this milk. But what could I have done, I could not dare avoid the orders of Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) and His Messenger (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)
Accordingly I went out and called them; they came and solicited permission to come in, which was granted and they came in and took their seats. The Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) called me 'Abahir' and I replied: 'I am here, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Take hold of the cup of milk and give it to them.' I took the cup and passed it to one man who would drink and when he felt satisfied, he would return it to me, and I would give it to the next person who likewise drank the milk to his fill. I went on doing this till the cup reached the Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) . By that time all had drunk the milk to their satisfaction.
The Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) took the cup in his hand, looked towards me, smiled and said: 'Abahir?' I said 'I am here, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, "Now only two persons, myself and you are left!" I said: "Of course, O Messenger of Allah, you are right." Then he said: "Sit and drink." I sat down and started drinking the milk. The Holy Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said: "Take more." I took a bit more and he continued saying; 'Drink a little more', till I said: By Allah! Who has commissioned you with the truth , now I have no more room in my stomach.' He said: 'Then let me have it.' So I passed on the cup to him. He thanked Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) and with the name of Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) drank the milk which was left in the cup. (Bukhari)

The Eating And Drinking Of The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) part 2

aslam o aliakum wa rahmatuAllahi wa barakatuhu,

Jabir b. Abdullah reported: Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلن took hold of my hand one day (and led me) to his residence. There was presented to him some pieces of bread, whereupon he said: Is there no condiment? They (the members of his household) said: No, except some vinegar. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Vinegar is a good condiment. Jabir said: I have always loved vinegar since I heard it from Allah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلن . Talha said: I have always loved vinegar since I heard about it from Jabir. (Sahih Muslim)

- He ate yogurt and sometimes the meat was cooked with the yogurt.
- Cooked food was a luxury for them. Sometimes 3 months would pass and they wouldn't eat cooked food – when was the last time we went a day without eating anything that was cooked?
- He used to lick his fingers after eating and clean the entire plate (with his fingers, not licking the actual plate!)

Anas رضي الله عنه said, “The Messenger of Allah used to lick his three fingers after having eaten.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)

Umar bin Abi Salamah رضي الله عنه came to the Messenger of Allah while food was being served to him. The Messenger of Allah said, “O my Son, come near, recite Bismillah, and eat with your right hand from that portion which is in front of you.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)

- He liked water, and drank in three sips and used to drink sitting although he was seen standing once.

Amr bin Shu'ayb's grandfather رضي الله عنه relates, “I had seen the Messenger of Allah drinking water whilst standing and also whilst sitting.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)
- They used to put fruits in the water and leave it outside to become cold so it'd be sweet and cold.

Aisha رضي الله عنه said, “The drink most liked by the Messenger of Allah was that which was sweet and cold.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)

The Fragrance Of The Prophet Muhammad (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)

- He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was very sensitive about how he smelled,
- Sunnah if someone offers you perfume not to refuse
- Best time for perfume
○ Salah at jummah
○ Eid
○ Putting Al-Ahram
○ Salat al jamah
○ Gathering
○ Reciting Quran
○ zikr

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrates, “The Messenger of Allah said, The fragrance of a male is the fragrance which spreads and is transparent, and the fragrance of a female is that which is coloured and less fragrant‟.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)
- He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) always had a beautiful scent and loved the beautiful smells of this world.

He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said:
“Made beloved to me from your world are women and perfume, and the coolness of my eyes is in prayer.” (Ahmad & An-Nasa‟i)

He(sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) likes the fragrance that spreads out and leaves no stain for the men and recommended for women the ones that leaves the shininess but leaves no smell when you go out.
- The best fragrance is taking a shower!

- When Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلن sweats, even then it smells like musk. Anas says in Bukhari: I have never smelled no fragrance than the fragrance of Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)
- He never refused a gift of perfume. If you are given a gift of perfume and don‟t want it, then take it but don‟t spread it on yourself.
- He used to put it on his hair, beard and clothes
- Most popular scent is musk – a natural oil from some animals that are halal. The pure musk is very, very strong.

aslam o alaikum wa rahmatuAllahi wa barakatuhu,

this is such a beautiful piece by ustadh abu eesa i wanted to include it in the thread InshAllah
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At a time when many Muslims will be debating the definitions of bid‘ah and the condemnation of people based upon whether they don’t celebrate the ‘Eed Milād’l-Nabi or do, where some will find excuse to mix and party and others will find reason to have a quiet reflective moment, perhaps it would be pertinent to remind ourselves exactly what this debate is all really about.

The blessed Prophet and Messenger Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was understood to have been born in the early half of the current month Rabī’l-Awwal in the year 570 or 571 CE. There is not a single piece of evidence that categorically establishes the exact date of birth and indeed this was never an issue for the early scholars due to their lack of celebrating the particular birthday of the Prophet (‘alayhi-salātullāh). As one of my teachers used to say, “Why do people find this strange? I was born in the 20th Century and my family still have no idea when I was born, not even the year!”

What is known for sure though is that the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was born on a Monday which is indeed one of the reasons he fasted on a Monday as he (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stated and as collected in Sahīh Muslim. We likewise fast on Mondays in celebration of his Sunnah.

Yet within the discussion surrounding the birth of the Prophet, many people don’t get further than either the fact that we simply fast on a Monday as a result of it or on the other side, hold celebratory functions in which devotional songs are recited. Perhaps both parties would do well to not miss the wood for the trees and reflect upon an individual who simply cannot be reduced to a Mawlid gathering or a chain email warning of deathly innovation.

Thus let us start and look at who then was born that great day!

The Description of the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

Physically speaking, the Prophet Muhammad (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was the most handsome of people. He was of medium height, not too tall and not too short, of medium build, of white going slightly red-brown skin colour, with a completely full head of shiny black slightly curly hair that would reach to his shoulders at its longest, hair which was sometimes dyed slightly red and/or yellow, a taut neck, an extended black thick beard with a few white hairs, firm un-raised cheeks, a fine slender nose, wide white eyes with a slight reddish tinge with strikingly black pupils, a flat chest and stomach, well-statured, thick heavy hands with slightly long fingers, very soft palms, smooth large feet, no excess fat or flesh on the heels, and a gait of one leaning slightly forward when he walked. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He had a large back, broad shoulders, in between which slightly to the left one could see the Seal of Prophethood – a slightly raised piece of skin with a small grouping of hair. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

When he met people, he would turn his whole body to meet them. He was the first to greet people, having a wide smile, with a face that was immersed in blessed light that shone and radiated like a bright moon. He had a firm handshake which he would not let go of until the other person let go yet at the same time was so gentle that if a small girl was to take his hand and lead him around the town, he would follow in tow. It was difficult for people to compose themselves in his presence due to the sheer awe of his countenance and the shock of how handsome he was. His gravitas and presence was such that despite his medium height, he seemed taller than those surrounding him. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He would love to wear cotton shirts, some similar to a thawb, short and long but never below the ankles, sometimes short-sleeved so that one could see his white clean arm-pits and sometimes long to his wrists. He disliked woolen garments except for the occasional use of a woolen over-garment, mostly white yet sometimes colourful particularly striped, sometimes red-striped, but never wore anything saffron in colour. He would wear a turban, sometimes a two-piece outfit with a sarong type lower garment, and would accept and wear the clothes of foreigners given to him as a gift. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

The Demeanour of the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

He was always cheerful, of mild temperament and easy going, yet at the same time reflective and would spend much of his time looking down at the ground in contemplation. When he spoke, those sitting around him were so still that it seemed that birds were perched on their heads. When he fell silent, they talked but never argued in his presence. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He was neither rude nor coarse and did not shout or utter obscenities. He did not find fault with others nor lavishly praise them. He did not interrupt another’s speech. He would interact with those who sat with him in the best of ways: he would never frown at them, treat them harshly or turn away from them, he would not point out slips of the tongue nor reprimand one for any coarseness in speech or the likes, and he would make excuses for them as much as possible. Whoever mixed with him would think that he was the most beloved person to him due to the attention he received, his kindness and the sincere advice he was given. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He would honour the leader of every people and put them in charge of their affairs. He would show respect to the people of nobility and excellence and he would divide his time amongst them in accordance to their religiosity, yet there wasn’t a soul who felt they were not able to approach him due to his humility and welcoming nature. He gave everyone who sat with him his due share such that none thought that another was more honoured than he. If any person sat with him or near him to ask of him, he was tolerant and remained so until that person himself turned away. When someone asked him for something he needed, they either departed with it or with some consoling words. He had the kindest and best behaviour of all people, being like a father to them. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He was easy going, soft, close to people, he answered the calls of those who called him, judged those who required judgment, fulfilled the need of those who asked of him – never preventing them from asking him and never letting them go disappointed or empty-handed. When his Companions desired a matter from him, he would agree with them and follow them; if he determined to do something, he would consult them. He would accept their good from them and overlook their mistakes. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

He was the most truthful of people, the most honourable. The people of the earth fought him, employing all means at their disposal yet none of them ever accused him of lying. His friends and foes alike would not describe him except as the most gentle, generous and empowering individual to walk the face of the Earth. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

His generosity did not come about through effort, neither was it hard upon him, rather it naturally arose due to the purity of his soul and gentleness of spirit. He had the most giving of hearts by virtue of the righteousness of his disposition and the great good contained therein. Kindness would pour out of his heart for it was enveloped in every beautiful moral and in every excellence.

It is sufficient to end with the fact that the very greatest and noblest of people would all say about the Prophet Muhammad, “I have never seen anyone, before him or after him, who was comparable to him.” May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

The Right of the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

Allah jalla wa ‘alā sent him as a Prophet and a Messenger to the entirety of the worlds of Jinn and Man. He was sent as nothing but a Mercy to these worlds, one blessed with wisdom and guidance, with a criterion to establish right from wrong, truth from falsehood, and to bring the people from darkness into light.

He was sent as a favour to mankind, and was sent to be followed. He was sent to be emulated and loved, to become more beloved to us than our parents and our children, even more than our own souls. It is in his cause that we are asked to sacrifice throughout our life for, and it is through his praise that we will attain the true success in this world and the Hereafter, by ultimately achieving the love of the Divine Himself.

It is his Sunnah that we study, revise, memorise and implement. We then internalise it, promote it, then teach it, defend it, protect it and die for it. At this moment then, let us revive his Sunnah by not indulging in actions contrary to it, but by reflecting on the magnificence of the one who came with it and his attempts to keep the people straight upon its path. Let us reflect upon the actions of those supreme Companions whom Allah Himself is Happy with, and the way they acted upon the Sunnah and the way they remembered their guide and master and celebrated his coming.

The Messenger was born and the world became illuminated as a result of that birth. Let us celebrate, not on the 8th, not on the 12th, not this month, and not even this year, but rather every single living moment of our lives as we now start to realise that we have been blessed beyond our wildest imagination to have even known of this great man: our master and leader, Sayyidina Muhammad. May Allah jalla wa ‘alā bless and bestow peace upon him.

The Speech Of The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)

The Speech Of The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)

- Sunnah not to talk too much
- If speech is needed He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would talk
- With Sahaba (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would repeat 3-4 times, and talk slow
- Sometimes He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would raise his voice, like EID and Jummah or teaching to large group of people.

Aisha رضي الله عنه relates, “The speech of Allah‟s Messenger was not quick and continuous as that of yours. He spoke clearly, word for word. A person sitting in his company remembered what he said.” (Shama‟il al-Tirmidhi)
- He spoke clearly for people to understand and memorize
- He used to repeat his speech 3 times for people to understand
- Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلن would be quiet until there was a need for him to talk
- He (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) doesn't yell, scream, use vulgar language, etc

Narrated 'Aisha: A group of Jews entered upon the Prophet and said, "As-Samu-Alaikum." (i.e. death be upon you). I understood it and said, "Wa-Alaikum As-Samu wal-la'n. (death and the curse of Allah be Upon you)." Allah's Apostle said "Be calm, O 'Aisha! Allah loves that one should be kind and lenient in all matters." I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Haven't you heard what they (the Jews) have said?" Allah's Apostle said "I have (already) said (to them) "And upon you ! "
(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

- When he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) met people, he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would be the first to extend his hands and shake and he(sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would be the last to pull away
- When someone spoke to him, he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) looked at them, listened, and gave them individual attention, and kept looking until the person turned away

The Smiling, Laughing, And Jesting Of The Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)

Abdullah bin Harith (Radhiallah Anhum) reports,
“I did not see anyone who smiled more than the Messenger of Allah.” (Shamail al-Tirmidhi)
- Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was very normal. When it's funny, he laughs; if not, he doesn't need t laugh but his laughing was smiling
- If it was extremely funny, he would have a big smile
Abdullah bin Harith (Radhiallah Anhum) related, “The laugh of Allahs Messenger was but a smile.” (Shamail al-Tirmidhi)

* Smiling at each other is sadaqa*

He feels astonished and surprised at what people get astonished at – e.g at the story of Bareerah and Mugheeth, so he said:
"O Abbas! Isn't it amazing how much Mugheeth loves Bareerah/Barirah and how much Bareerah hates Mugheeth?"
Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallah Anhum) reports, “The Sahabah asked, O Messenger of Allah, you joke with us? The Messenger of Allah replied, Yes, but only in truth.” (Shamail al-Tirmidhi)

- The prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) also used to get angry but he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) wouldn't get angry for himself; he would only get angry when the rights of Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala)were violated. And even when he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) gets angry, he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) would do something positive to help the situation. It's the course of action that matters – if you channel your anger and use it positively, then that's good. If not; if you go crazy, then you lose yourself and your deen in the process. Anger and violence don't necessarily go together.
His (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) face would turn red but he would cool down and fix the problem.
o If it's personal, cool down and let it go, if it's for deen, then take the right course of action.
- Even when he (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)'s angry, Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) wouldn't utter anything but truth and the same goes for when he(sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was joking.

- He initiates jokes as well
Hasan al-Basri said, “An old woman came to the Messenger of Allah and made a request, „O Messenger of Allah, make du'a that Allah grants me entrance into Jannah. The Messenger of Allah replied, O Mother, an old woman cannot enter Jannah. The woman began crying and started to leave. The Messenger of Allah said, Say to the woman that one will not enter in a state of old age, but Allah will make all women of Jannah young and playful.” (Shamail al-Tirmidhi)

Anas ibn Maalik (Radhiallah Anhum) relates, “Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) once told him jokingly, Ya dhal udhu-nayn (O' two eared one).” (Shamaail al-Tirmidhi)

Once a man was mentioned in front of Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) and he said, “The one with the white in his eyes?” They responded that there was nothing wrong with the man's eyes and Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said: Everyone has white in their eyes!

Narrated Anas bin Malik (Radhiallah Anhum), The Prophet used to mix with us to the extent that he would say to a younger brother of mine (he had a bird called Umair), " Ya Aba umayr! Maa fa'altu min nughayr?
(O father of Umair! What did the Nughayr (a kind of bird)?)" (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Anas ibn Malik (Radhiallah Anhum), relates That a person requested Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) that he be given a conveyance. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) replied, “The baby of a camel shall be given to you.” The person said, “What shall I do with the baby of a camel O Messenger of Allah?” (I want one for a conveyance). Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) replied, “Every camel is the baby of a camel.” (Shamaail al-Tirmidhi)
Anas ibn Malik (Radhiallah Anhum), reports, “A resident of the wilderness whose name was Zaahir (ibn Hiraam Al-Ashjaee), whenever he visited Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) he brought with him presents of the wilderness, vegetables etc., and presented it to Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) . When he intended to leave Madinah, Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) used to present him with provisions of the city. Once Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said, Zaahir is our wilderness, and we are his city. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was attached to him. Zaahir (Radhiallah Anhum), was not very handsome. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam)
approached him while he was selling his merchandise. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) caught him in between the arms from the back in such a manner that he (Sayyidina Zaahir radiyallahu anhu) could not see him. Zaahir (Radhiallah Anhum), said, Who is this?, leave me. But when he saw with the corner of his eye that it was Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) , he straightened his back and began pressing it to the chest of Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) (For as long as he gained this opportunity it was better than a thousand gifts). Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) then said, Who will purchase this slave? Zaahir (Radhiallah Anhum), replied, O Rasulullah, if you shall sell me, you will be selling a defective thing, and will earn a very little sum. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) said, No, you are not defective in the sight of Allah, but very valuable.”
(Shamaail al-Tirmidhi)
Auf Ibn Malik Ashjai (Radhiallah Anhum), said: That at the time of the battle of Tabuk he went to see the Prophet (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) At that time the Prophet was sitting in a small round shaped tent of leather. Auf saluted the Prophet and he returned the salutation. He further asked him to come into the tent. At this Auf said, 'Should I come in, the whole of me?' The Prophet said, 'Yes, come in the whole of you.' Then he entered the tent. (Abu Dawud)
- And Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) also responded when people played pranks on him.

o There was a companion called Nuaiman and he was known as the court-jester among the companions. Once Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was mounting his camel, and Nuaiman took the saddle out from under him so he fell. Rasulullah (sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) laughed and so did the companions.
