Lessons Learned From Two Drug Addicts

:salam2: Jazak Allahu Khair for sharing. I can certainly relate to this story..... In my pre-Islamic days I spent a summer in Milan, Italy to learn the language. There were many North Africans, especially Moroccans and Egyptians. Although everyone was young and perhaps not following their religion closely, something struck me that summer that prompted me to borrow a translation of Qur'an when I returned to university that summer. It is hard to explain but I found within these young Muslims a respect and awe for Allah, a healthy "God-fearing" attitude that was devoid for me around my Irish Catholic peers in Ireland.... I wanted to achieve that spirituality myself and it wasn't working for me within Catholicism. I borrowed Qur'an and at the same time a book called Buddhakarata (if I remember correctly). Well, I read both books.... While Buddhakarata was full of beautiful poetry about nature, it did not give me any direction as to how I was supposed to apply this in my life. On the contrary, the Qur'an gave me nothing but specific direction and my hands trembled as I read it, :ma:

For us Muslims now, born or reverts, we never know when our simplest action or casual conversation might impact somebody profoundly and let us be mindful of that :)

Salaam,

Yes sister - The smallest actions can have the biggest impact and we'll never know how much good deeds (or even bad) is being deposited in our accounts until the Day of Accounting. May we all strive to do good, even if it's the smallest deed. Ameen.
