Dear brothers and sisters;
When we are with people and as is known that people like to make jokes, However there should be no lying within such jokes. The Prophet salallahu alleyhi wa salam said, “Woe to the person who tells lies as jokes to make people laugh. Woe to him, Woe to him!”.[Hadith Hasan, Sunan Abu-Dawood] He salallahu alleyhi wa salam also said, “I guarantee a palace in the middle of Jannah to the one who doesn’t lie in telling jokes.” When the Prophet salallahu alleyhi wa salam used to joke, he always spoke the truth.
Be truthful in your talk and refrain from lying because the believer is always truthful, and does not lie even if he is joking. The Prophet (S.A.W.) says, what was reported by Imam Bukhari and Muslim, "You must speak the truth for the truth leads to virtue and virtue leads to Paradise. One who always speaks the truth and means the truth, is recorded as truthful with Allah. Keep away from the lie for the lie leads to evil and evil leads to the Hell Fire and one who continually tells a lie and intends to lie is recorded with Allah as a liar."
