Wa'ylaikum Salaam,
I think it is a waste of money, time and resources. Obviously this is from an Islamic point of view but all major religions teach that life exists on Earth alone. We are Allah's (swt) creation, even the thought of life on other planets or somewhere else in the Universe clashes with our fundamental beliefs which we build our life around. There is nothing wrong with exploring space, as it is Allah's creation and there is much beauty out in the Universe as we can see from pictures taken at labs. But we need to sort out Earth first, there is so much trouble and corruption in our own home, Satan is a dominant force all over the place, not just the West. We need to strive in Allah's Cause and create a safer, cleaner, peacefull environment where we can live, work and socialise first before gonig out into the depths of space and exploring.
Many people have already pointed out on this thread that we still can't do many things on Earth. For example getting to the bottom of the ocean, or conquering great mountains, or just simply getting two different people (whether it be difference in religion, colour, nationality, politics) to sit down with each other and just get along as normal human beings should. We need to tidy up our home before we go out exploring.
Peace
