Light upon Light
My husband,
I may not be the most beautiful woman in the world
But my eyes will show you the most beautiful things
One that is you
And my mouth, is not as delectable as that of another’s
But you will always taste the sugar of life
My voice isn’t as alluring as a Siren’s
But it will bring to you the sweetest sounds
Nature, endearments to you, and praised of our Lord
My hands, not delicate, not white
Are large enough to carry the most good towards you
My heart, soft when you are standing in front of it
Is hard enough to shield your love forever
My soul trembles when it thinks of you
But it is free and light, willing to carry you towards the heavens.
My body, larger, longer
Will walk forever to take you to Allah’s throne
