Its my first day in this forum. am looking for people connected to the field of Biology. Am currently working on bioinformatics tools at CDC USA related to evolutionary Molecular Virology. Because all this work is contrary to the basic teachings of Islaam. I want to know what means can we explore to pull ourselves out of the quagmire of evolution.

I am a third year medical student so I guess you could say I am in the field of Biology. But I am unclear as to what you are asking. Evolution is taught as a theory and haphazardly at best in some schools. Not sure what that has to do with your field of study however. Could you clarify what you are seeking an answer to, please?

well molecular evolutionary virology involves the use of diverse molecular assays for the diagnostic and research purposes. Which involves many key public health interventions like Polio and measles. Molecular epidemiology helps us identifying the virus reservoirs, transmission pathways and different kind of things. Which in turn helps in eradicating different infectious viruses from the population.
Use of bioinformatics is of crucial importance to molecular epidemiology and eradication. Almost all of the bioinformatics tools use THEORY OF EVOLUTION as a basic component to determine the anscestor, divergence of species from common anscestor and many such things. All of them are full of assumptions and probabilities. All supported by athiests and publish in athiest journals like nature. Sometimes i wonder why certain muslims and some conservative christians refuse vaccination.

Well, answer is simple that don t beleive in such theories like evolution etc and just keep on doing ur research. Islam doesnt stop us from reseraching in the mean while it also stops us from beleiving on such crappy things. Ask any scholar.

I'm not Aalim or biologist but...

As Sakaam Alaykum Akhee,

I'm unable to see problem between your research and Islam.

In Islam, we donot believe that we were just got created by CHANCE... We all came from Adam (PBUH) and he was created by Allah.

But, I donot know anything in Islam which says that human beings haven't evolved to adapt them with surrounding environment.
For example: African have dark skin, asians have brown/white skin and europeans have white skin even though all us are from Adam (PBUH).
There are whole lot of other things in which we have evolved differently ...color of skin is just an example.

I still am unclear as to what you are asking/requesting. I know what your occupation entails, my schooling included a basic understand of the theory of evolution but that did not mean I have to subscribe to the theory or place faith in the dogma.

I have a number of friends who chose not to vaccinate their children not for religious purposes but due to the side effects to vacs. The polio virus causes paralysis in less than 1% of people infected with it, flu like synptoms in the rest, so I guess they prefer the risk of polio than the risk of vac side effects. However for parents to get around vaccinating their children before public school enrollment they must fill out a form of "religious reasons" for denying the vacs. This makes it appear that many conservative religious people are not vaccinating due to "religious purposes" though that is not the reason at all.

When I have children, Inshallah, I will be choosing delayed vaccination schedule so as not to overwhelm an infant immune system. We are giving so many more vacs to our children, more than I received in my childhood so I lean towards conservative measures when injecting my child with vacs.

If you look at how the theory of evolution is taught, the theory doesn't make total sense. They teach us that nothing created something, however, louis pateur proved that nothing can't create something. However, as to vaccines if I had children would give it to them. A study proved that even after 60 years after getting a small pox vaccine people's bodies still reacted to being introduced to the small pox virus, so if you could prevent your child and the children they are in contact with from getting diseases like small pox and polio I'd say its worth it for a little pain at the injection site or flu like symptoms

May Allaah bless you all for worthy comments and some useful suggestions. Well i would take exception to some of the points raised by a few members. Yes I would love to be a conservative muslim (the one who tries to conserve the fundamentals of deen in his life) while maintaing my stature as a progressive one because Islam does not prevent one from any beneficial thing.
To be a part of something and do nothing is enirely different from being into it and try to change it. Research is always done in order to make things better and convenient for public. We vaccinate million of doses to millions of kids on the basis of this theory which is linked to my research. The fact is that the entire delivery system for vaccines is based on molecular epidemiology which employs theory of evolution for the determination of virus reservoirs etc. Evolutionists deny GOD (Allaah SWT). Not to forget that our country is among 05 endemic countries for Polio. Muslims are being targetted in our country they refuse to get their kids vaccinated due to the fact that the Polio vaccine manufacturing is done by using Trypsin which is of Porcine source. Therefore they abduct people who go for vaccination in their area.
I dont need fatwas but useful comments, suggestions and ways to improvement.

I have been part of this system for almost 5 years now. Had i wanted to leave it, then I could have done that years ago. May Allaah help me in finding enough strength and commitment to change it one day. I shall keep on looking for Muslims who want to make this world a conducive place for their fellow beings. I like progressive people like Sheikh Assim L Alhakim from Saudia, atleast they encourage muslims to continue with their efforts.

Just because a particular belief is behind the creation of a vaccine doesn't mean it shouldn't be used, why would you deny your child a healthy life because of what someone else's beliefs are, because then you are stepping into the realm of people like Jehovah's Witness's who deny all medical treatments because they believe that it is the will of God whether they shoud live or die and therefore medical treatments aren't allowed.
We can't deny that bacteria and viruses are continually mutating to evolve to the medications that we are basically giving out like candy, but the difference is we aren't denying Allah (SWT) because on every level he has allowed organisms to evolve otherwise we would never be able to adapt to different surroundings and situations.
As for the source of the trypsin, all that would require is more research in to using a different source to isolate it from, or creating it. Its been done before, in the case of women who were at risk for having an allergic reaction to the placenta of their second or plus child...the original antigen was from a pig, but then scientist figured out a way to use another source to create it from

Brother, if I have offended you I ask forgiveness. I did not see anyone issueing fatwas or challenging you on your statements. Rather I see that we are sugesting that you continue your research with the knowledge that they can call vaccines anything they want (evolutionary research) and it will not make it so. You are understanding diseases and how to prevent their spread, who cares if they call it evolution? You know it is adaptation, which is completely different from evolution and therefore you can continue your research with that in mind. I also do not see where anyone told you to leave the field but rather to remain and continue your work.

I am still unclear as to what you are asking though. Do you want them to call the research something else and want to change it? I have never heard of people being kidnapped over vaccinations. We all desire to help humanity and Inshallah please Allah swt with the gifts and skills he has bestowed upon us.
