One day I was ill, I was lying sick in bed,
So bad did I feel, there was pain in my throat and head
Whining to myself, about my misery.
I longed for my health, which would soon come back to me.
But I remembered then, my Muslim friend, paralyzed from neck to toe.
He would never move, do the things I'd do, go places I would go
I should not complain, be unthankful when, Allah has blessed me so,
I should thank my Lord, and be patient more, and my faith will surely grow.
Shukrillah, I thank Allah for everything he's done for me,
When I look and see, his bounty, ungrateful I will never be.
Sitting in his chair, he could only move his eyes,
Can't even comb his hair, despite how hard he tries.
He begins to despair, for the things he used to do,
He feels it's so unfair, he wished he just had the flu.
Be he remembers then his Muslim friend, oppressed in another land,
Tortured by his enemies, with pain he cannot stand.
He should not complain, be unthankful when, Allah has blessed him so,
With his family, he has all his needs, he'll never be alone.
Shukrillah, I thank Allah for everything he's done for me,
When I look and see, his bounty, ungrateful I will never be.
Tied to a pole, his body shook with pain,
Their laughter was cold, as they did it over again.
And they only did this, cause Islam was in his eyes
He started to wish, he could just be paralyzed
But he remembers then, the evil men, who torture him this way,
They'll have misery, for eternity, (there) on the Judgment Day,
He should not complain, cause for every pain, Allah will bless him so,
And he has Iman, they have no Islam, so with faith he lets them know.
Shukrillah, I thank Allah for everything he's done for me,
When I look and see, his bounty, ungrateful I will never be.
