These are beautiful words by Maulana Haali (ra). These are the lifetime lessons.


بشر کو ہے لازم کہ ہمت نہ ہارے
جہاں تک ہو کام آپ اپنے سنوارے

خدا کے سوا چھوڑ دے سب سہارے
کہ ہیں عارضی زور کمزور سارے

اڑے وقت تم دائیں بائیں نہ جھانکو
سدا اپنی گاڑی کو تم آپ ہانکو

بہت خوان بے اشتہار تم نے کھائے
بہت بوجھ بندھ بندھ کے تم نے اٹھائے

بہت آس پر ساز کی راگ گائے
بہت عارضی تم نے جلوے دکھائے

بس اب اپنی گردن پہ رکھو جوا تم
کرو حاجتیں آپ اپنی روا تم

تمہیں اپنی مشکل کو آساں کرو گے
تمہیں درد کا اپنے درماں کرو گے

تمہیں اپنی منزل کا ساماں کرو گے
کرو گے تمہیں کچھ اگر یاں کرو گے

چھپا دست ہمت میں زور قضا ہے
مثل ہے کہ ہمت کا حامی خدا ہے

These are charming words in Urdu but here is a rough English translation.


بشر کو ہے لازم کہ ہمت نہ ہارے
It is must for a man not to lose courage.
جہاں تک ہو کام آپ اپنے سنوارے
As far as possible, he should help himself for all of his needful works.


خدا کے سوا چھوڑ دے سب سہارے
You should stop seeking help from anyone's hand except God's hand.
کہ ہیں عارضی زور کمزور سارے
Because all these hands are actually very short and weak.


اڑے وقت تم دائیں بائیں نہ جھانکو
You must not look toward anyone when you fall in a trouble.
سدا اپنی گاڑی کو تم آپ ہانکو
And always drag the cart of your life yourself


بہت خوان بے اشتہار تم نے کھائے
You have eaten so many charity meals.
بہت بوجھ بندھ بندھ کے تم نے اٹھائے
You have carried yourself forward by sitting on many shoulders.


بہت آس پر ساز کی راگ گائے
You have praised so many people in a hope that they will help you.
بہت عارضی تم نے جلوے دکھائے
You have showed many performance to make other happy.


بس اب اپنی گردن پہ رکھو جوا تم
So now stop and start standing up on your own feet.
کرو حاجتیں آپ اپنی روا تم
Stop looking toward others and now fulfill your own needs yourself


تمہیں اپنی مشکل کو آساں کرو گے
It is only you who will tackle your own problems and make things easy for yourself.
تمہیں درد کا اپنے درماں کرو گے
It is only you who will find the cure of your own pains.


تمہیں اپنی منزل کا ساماں کرو گے
It is only you who will find the way to reach your own destination.
کرو گے تمہیں کچھ اگر یاں کرو گے
And if anyone will do anything for you then it will be no one but you.


چھپا دست ہمت میں زور قضا ہے
Because God has decreed that He wants to give you and bless you with your own hands.
مثل ہے کہ ہمت کا حامی خدا ہے
Because God has decreed that He will help those who will help themselves.
