Manners of Eating and Drinking

As-salamu alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

Islam, as you all know, is not just a "religion" to be followed when it comes to matters of worship, but it's a way of life that extends to include every single detail in our daily life. Here are some of the manners that should be observed while eating and drinking and for which we get rewarded if we just do them with the simple intention of following in the footsteps of our dear Prophet SAWS.
Being Content With What is Available:'Abu Hurayra (radhi allahu anhu) said, "The
Messenger of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wa salaam) never expressed disapproval of
any type of food. If he desired it, he ate it, and if he disliked it, he left it alone."
(Al-Bukhaari and Muslim)

Beginning with Allah's (subhana wa ta'aala) Name:

A practical demonstration of gratitude is for us to realize that any food or
drink we consume is only made possible by Allah. Thus, we start by uttering Allah's name.

Wahshiyy bin Harb (radhi allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallalahu
alaihi wa salaam) said: "Gather upon your food; and utter
Allah's name. It would then be blessed for you."
(verified authentic by al-Albaani in as-Saheehah no. 664)

Forgetting to Start With Bismillah:

'Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) reported tha the Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa
salaam)said: "When any of you starts eating, he should utter Allah's name.
If he forgets todo so in the beginning (and he remembers it later), he should
say, "Bismillahi awwalahoo wa aakhirah - With Allah's name (I eat), first and last."
(Recorded by Ahmad, Abu Daawood, At-Tirmidthee, and others.
Verified authentic by Al-Albaani in Irwaa' ul-Ghaleel no. 1965.)

Manners of Eating and Hosting
While Eating:
Avoid Reclining:

Abu Juhayfah Wahb bin 'Abdillah (radhi allahu anhu) relates that the Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa salaam) said: "I do not eat while reclining." (Riyaadh us-Saaliheen, #746)

Avoid Standing:

Anas bin Maalik (radhi allahu anhu) related that the
Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa salaam) has forbidden a person from drinking while standing.
Qataadah asked Anas (radhi allahu anhum), "

Impermissible Utensils:

Narrated Hudthayfah (radhi allahu anhu), "I heard the
Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa salaam) saying, "Do not wear silk or deebaaj (an
expensive cloak with silk lining and borders) or sit on it; and do not eat or drink in silver or gold utensils; such things are for the disbelievers in this worldly life and for us in the Hereafter."
(Al-Bukhaari and Muslim)
