i know that this isn't a political website, but i really do like being informed on politics. we here in america are a little bit over a year away from electing a new president. last night on fox news channel they held a republican presidential debate and one of the candidates mitt romney had always impressed me, until last night. he said ( i am paraphrasing ) that he believes gitmo shouldn't be closed down, the detainees should be kept in cuba; so they can't get the rights that others here have, he also believes that they should double the size of gitmo. he totally lost me there. his social policies are good, but as a muslim i can no longer support him. he also admitted in a way, that he knows that the detention of the men in gitmo is in fact an illegal act.

i don't know if any of those men at gitmo are innocent or guilty of any crimes, but i do believe that they should be informed of their charges, have access to a lawyer, and have a speedy trial. i don't believe we can just keep them there blidfolded and silenced. this really bothers me. not only because i am a muslim like they are, but who will be the next group of people treated this way?
