More than 800 persons embraced Islam in Dubai '06
DUBAI, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Works of Dubai said in a statement Tuesday 808 foreign residents here embraced Islam in 2006.
They embraced Islam out of sincere desire after getting familiarized with its tolerant doctrine and principles that advocate peaceful coexistence among all races of humankind, it said.
The majority of the new Muslims, 286, belong to the Filipino community in Dubai, followed by the Indian community, 124, then the Chinese 109 persons.
The figure exceeds the 714 new Muslims in 2005, by 11.76 percent, the statement added. (end) wa.
