Is it really 'so bad' wearing niqab in the Netherlands? I'm asking because I don't know the reality Muslims live there. Are sisters in your city wearing niqab?

yes it is forbidden here, if they see you with a niqab you will get a big penalty
(believe me they are very expensive!)
Yeah i know one sister she's wearing a niqaab, and she must pay, because it's forbidden...
She is now in Saudi-Arabia. They don't say anything about her niqaab in KSA.

No wonder that i don't want to live in Europe, and that i will go to an islamic land!
I was just in the bus, and there was thus a racist. I did nothing. I said hello to her, she just looked grubby at me . I just sat down quietly. Suddenly began she to complain about that I can't eat in the bus . she told me that you should not eat, but there was never a bus driver who told me you should not eat and I have never read that. but I respected her and stopped with eating. . Suddenly she started talking about my hijab and my faith.Whole discussion with her. I was really angry, I spit on her and then I left the bus.
I know that spitting is a fault , but I was really angry..

Remember the famous hadeeth in which the Jews wished death to the Prophet sallaLlahu 'alayhi wa sallam, he simply answered 'wa yakum' (forgive me I'm not using the exact words).

You will be tested in this dunya inshallah wa alhamdulillah, Shaytaan won't leave us alone, so you will find your tests even in a Muslim country, just need to have sabr and have the best manners whether with a Muslim or a Christian. We represent Islam no matter where we live. Wa Allahu 'alam.

If I'm not mistaken you live in Algeria?

I'm asking because you don't know what it's like living in a country that is anti-Muslim. These European countries have always been racist and now they are picking on the Muslims. The dress code for women are stipulated in the Qur'an (apart from niqab as there is a debate on that). So all Muslim women have the right to wear what they want Islamically in a democratic??? country.

Contrast this with the UK which has always been liberal, and which gave citizenship to immigrants long before others followed suit, but racism do rear it's ugly head now and then but it's controlled at governmental level. Even there it's becoming difficult to live life like a Muslim.

This reminds me of something Sheikh Khalid Yasin said "if a woman walks around in a thong and a bra nobody will take any notice but as soon as they see a Muslim woman in a hijab they want to call the armed services to check her out and see if she's a terrorist".

Contrast this with living in a majority Muslim country where you would have no pressure and surely one will have peace of mind.

Yes I do live in Algeria. I've never been in a European country.

The sister have said that she has no choice but to stay in the Netherlands. So I gave her advice considering that fact till she finds a way out, she's a woman. And if she were a Dutch, things would have been different for her.

Algeria is a Democratic Republic with a Muslim overwhelming majority. Covering the face used to be a common custom in the near past.

And because we are very close to Europe, and because of the colonial heritage and dependance to France, our culture have been heavily influenced.

Then we've had the Qutbi insurrection of the 90's which was responsible for the greatest amount of damage upon Islam in Algeria. Our society was shaken to its core. People began to fear Islam, especially its ultra-conservative-orthodox form which has begun in the seventies, but it was hijacked by the Qutbis, the Brotherhood if you will, for political purposes: to overthrow the regime. They took arms and slaughtered their own people and declared them heretics. Salafis do not carry the same ideology but people cannot make a distinction between the two, they look the same and behave the same, save a few.

And then you've got the mass media overwhelming attack on Islam and Muslims which is worldwide.

All of these factors have made it that modern Islam is not very welcomed in here. It's not as terrible as in Europe but it's enough to poison your life. The beard and short pants arent okay. Djilbab and niqab arent welcomed in here. Salafi ideas and points of view arent very welcomed in here. You will be ostracized, I guarantee you.

On the other hand, traditional Islam is okay. Ordinary clothing, hidjab, that's very okay.

If all western muslims would move to "islamic majority" countries, how new western muslims could ever meet muslims in the west and get more knowledge about islam (or just only from the books)?

I stay in the west and hope I can help new sisters to understand islam better.

In any place of this world I can serve and praise Allah and make work for islam (if it is will of Allah).

Although I agree with many points brother @sclavus has mentioned about Algeria, I have to say I don't agree with the part 'beards, short pants, jilbabs and niqabs aren't welcome here'. I have visited and often visit Algeria myself and I have never felt like not welcome! I see lots of women wearing jilbabs and niqabs and lots of brothers with beard and short pants mashallah tabarakallah. In the past 5yrs or so lots of people have 'returned' to the deen there alhamdulillah and new masajid upon Quran and Sunnah have started to spread around even more alhamdulillah. Not even mentioning Sheikh Ferkous hafidhullah and some of his students helping to spread the right knowledge of Islam mashallah.

My apologies if I wrote too much but just thought I had to clearify this cause I've seen and lived a different Algeria mashallah wa alhamdulillah.

One of my friends who lives in Algeria also has a nice long beard, he wears thawb too, and has no problems at all. We talked about it before, and alhamdulillah he is happy there with his family.

I think there are a lot of places people can move to where they can practise Islam and have a happy "Islamic" lifestyle. However, the problems are with visas and having an ongoing income. Most Muslim countries do not have Western style naturalisation. In Europe and North America, you eventually can become a citizen. Apart from Turkey, and I think Morocco, I do not think any other Muslim country has such options!

"Israel" allows for something called "aaliyah". This is the Jewish version of our Hijrah. They give opportunity to any Jew to move there, they help them learn Hebrew, give them a place to stay and also give them jobs/careers.

I know what I'm talking about. I'm a bearded guy with pants above the ankles, have been for years. I live near Algiers, I know who's who and who's doing what.

The situation is far better than what it used to be in the 90's, that's definitely true, praise to the Lord. But now, the situation is far too complicated.

Cheikh Ferkous is the most knowledgeable scholar in the country. Very respected and very balanced in his fatawa, God bless him.

The Salafi circles are infested with Jarh and Taadil. You have two main factions: People who disagree with cheikh El Aid Charifi(because of a mistake he'd made years and years ago) and those who don't disagree with him and/or follow him or his students. Then you have countless divisions, loyalties, disputes.. Well, a mess!

Sorry, you have to live here and associate with people long enough to know how society works. Several visits aren't enough.

BTW, I'm here on TTI because I got kicked out of a famous UK-based salafi forum a couple years ago and without notice. I registered there to ask questions, that's it. I've wrote a post on freemasonry, a small harmless reply. They deleted it, without notice. After a while, they closed the old site for new posts. They then put on some new forums, also without notice, where you have to know somebody who knows somebody among the staff in order to get registered. I asked them to tell me why I was treated in such a way? I've got no reply. I call this: arrogance. Without modesty and respect for other people you'll never achieve anything for Islam.

Just a clarification. Dawa is Fard Kifaya, saving your deen and practicing is Fard ain. If somebody cant practice their deen fully in any country it is mandatory to move to another country where they could ofcourse to their best ability.

Bro I understand what you are trying to say. There are probably millions of Muslim families who are living in the West who are unhappy living there and want to move. However the solution is not as easy as you point out from the ayat. For one thing moving to another country requires some kind of visa and many countries in this world do not hand out visa freely to families. Also if you are aware of how all countries of the world protect their borders then this is next to impossible. So for the majority of these families once they have taken the citizenship of the country that they are living in most, if not all, cases they lose the citizenship of their country of origin. So basically they are stuck in the country where they have migrated to. Further no country can accommodate a sudden influx of millions of people. On top of that the countries that we want to go to have their own internal problems.

In today's world there is no such thing as an 'Islamic country' as no country on earth follow the Shari'a Law. There are countries with Muslims as the majority religious group but at the governmental level they are all labelled as secular.

I am now in Dubai and I see thousands of people from all over the world. The same thing in Saudi especially in Khubar... Any way Allah knows who tried as their best and who kept giving excuses. Allah will judge every one on the day of judgment those who left their children learn evolution, who made their teenagers in Fitna...etc I know an indyan brother who has masters in IT and kept applying for Jobs in KSA for two years, calling every single company and follow up with them till Allah opened a door for him. I myself did the same thing. If it takes to a masters let it happen they HAVE to do their best.

Pls I know exactly the stiuation and these days it is 1000 times easier than 1400 years ago where they were risking their lifes for Hijra using a Camel.

Are you serious? The people in Dubai and KSA are there temporarily, when the government says get out or their employment visa expires they have to leave the country. They are not there to settle as this thread is all about moving to a country to settle permanently.
