Music...right or wrong?

Asalam alekum brothers and sisters....i really wanna know if the use of musical instruments is allowed in islam or not? i mean...i watch sami yousuf and others......they use all kinds of instruments. is it right in islam? i always thought that if the music is promoting the spread of islam ..then it's right... But i'm still confused...can anybody help me? jazakallah khair....

Just Drum allowed in islam ..nothing else..Sami yusuf music is also include instrument which is according to sariah not allowed..

lol. Music is a very hot topic, But majority scholors say that all music is haraam except duff (open sided drum/ tamborine). Best to refrain from the doubtful.
