Muslim detainees: Our inspiration

Muslim detainees
Men, women and children
Imprisoned
And hidden
Out of sight and mind
Absent from the front pages
But always in our thoughts

Held In cages
Like wild beasts
While the Muslim Ummah rages
For our brothers and sisters release

Tortured
Beaten and abused
But your memories
Still arouse awe and respect
After all these years
And inspire a new generation
Who tread the same path covered in thorns

Under interrogation
But you refuse to break down
Mentally and physically
And reciting the shahadah
Over and over
As the answer
To every question

Striking shock, awe and fear
Into the heart of the interrogators
Who use electricity, sodomy
And threats to your loved ones
As they take turns to break your bones
But your spirit remains intact

Your family weep
While the ordinary Muslims keep
Well away
Fearing the intelligence agencies
And their lowly informers

But the sincere
Have no fear
Of the creation over the created
And come and visit
With presents and gifts
But most importantly
Make dua for all the detainees
Regardless of minhajj and group affiliation

Muslim detainees
You are our inspiration
While you undergo interrogation
We carry the dawah as you used to
Regardless of the consequences

You break down and cry
And we also feel the pain of rejection
But we all have one thing in common
When times get hard
We never abandon the fard
And turn to Allah for strength
And the Quran for guidance

You undergo violence
While we suffer rejection
From time to time
But we all know
That we haven’t committed any crime
And it’s simply a matter of time
Before the deen of Allah returns
And the disbeliever’s worst fear comes to fruition

Allah swt says in the noble Quran:

"And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in ALLAH, Exalted in power. Worthy of all praise"
(Surah Al-Burooj, 8)

“They want to extinguish the light of Allaah with their mouths, but Allaah will perfect his light, although the disbelievers dislike it. It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allaah dislike it.” [Quran 61: 8-9]

“So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.” [Quran 3: 139]

“You will certainly be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allaah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allaah – indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.” [Quran 3: 186]
