Marwa lived in Germany and worked as a pharmacist. She was leading a happy life with her small family, supporting her husband while he was looking forward to earning his PhD in Genetics, and 3 months pregnant.
As any dedicated Muslim, Marwa was veiled. She simply followed what her religion demanded her to do. She was practicing her rights as a Muslim and a human being.
Marwa faced many problems during her stay in Germany. She was told in several occasions to take off her "Hijab" in order to obtain a job but she refused and stuck to her convictions. It was after all, a "free" country.
On the other side, Marwa was facing another similar problem. A 28 year old man named Alex. He was an unemployed German of Russian descent. In August 2008, she filed a case against him after he had called her a terrorist" because she wears the "Hijab". He has also tried to take off her head scarf on one occasion.
On the day of the murder and at the start of the trial, he had expressed his contempt for Muslims. Marwa won the case and He was fined 2,800 Euros for the insulting remarks.
Then, the man turned around and stabbed Marwa 18 deadly stabs then turned the knife on her husband, Elwi, stabbing him 6 other.
It happened before the eyes of Moustafa, their elder son. He has witnessed the murder of his mother in a COURTROOM.
Where is the justice in that?
Her husband Elwi on the other hand was shot by one of the German officers after being stabbed!!!!
I guess the fact that he didn't have fair skin and blue eyes made him the criminal!
Elwi is now in a hospital and in critical condition while Marwa was moved back to her hometown in Alexandria, Egypt to be given a proper burial.
The news was a shock to all Muslims across the globe.
People have shown deep anger towards the reaction of the German government and many have claimed that you do not have to be a Muslim to act against Anti-Muslim behavior.
Recently, Europe has been facing heavy criticism due to the fact that "Hijab" is "not welcome" in some countries such as France and others.
What if this situation happened to a German woman?
Wouldn't be the government's reaction a whole lot stronger than that?!
What if the woman was stabbed in an Arab country? Wouldn't the whole country be in a state of chaos? And of course, Arabs will be dubbed TERRORISTS.. As usual.
We are already being called terrorists for growing a beard, wearing a Hijab, having dark skin, speaking with a certain accent.. etc.
When will this aggression ever stop!?!
This act is truly horrible. A mother was murdered in cold blood in front of her child leaving him with the worst memories a child could ever bear. This child is scarred for life.
Her unborn child didn't get the chance to see the world and was taken away with the death of his mother.
Elwi lost his spouse. The love of his life. A woman so strong she gave her life for Islam and Hijab. He lost his child. And god knows what he'll have to face raising the other. A child who has witnessed the death of his mother on the hands of a racist can never forgive and forget. Hate and racism took away his innocence. It took away his mother and his sibling. And it left his family shattered for life.
God bless your soul Marwa. You will be in heaven, Inshallah. And we will all pray for you, your family and your poor child and hope that the blood shed is enough for every Muslim AND human being to wake up and LEARN how to be human. We are living in a world full of animals with no compassion whatsoever.
