Assalam Alaikum:
About couple of years back when I for the first time took my Daughter (then about 8 years old) to Masjid, she questioned me what place is this?. I said this is abode of God and is an analogue of your place of worship(temple). It's called Masjid. I took her to first floor of Masjid and offered Salat (Isha) individually. When I was free from prayers, she again questioned, where are idols here to be worshiped?. I replied '' We need no idols to worship the God. She remained silent at that moment. I further said"God is beyond our perception except through his signs". I added no one has ever witnessed the God so how come we put his form in to an idol.
That night my daughter questioned my Dad has any one ever seen God?. Obvious reply from my father was ''no''.She again inquired from my Dad so how come we create idols of God?. To be true my father could not answer this question. But I know it was first strike to his mind that yes our creator is the one who is Unseen.
Regards.
