My wife and I thank you

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

My wife was at the doctors today and ,out of the three serious possibilities ,it was the least serious. Her tibia bone was broken during the knee replacement and she has been walking around for over a year with a loose knee improperly attached to the tibia. However, she is thankful that it wasn't cancer or infection in the bone. She has to have another operation on her leg (which will be the second time on that leg and once on the other. We don't know exactly what the operation will entail, but she has to have it or her leg could completely separate from her knee. But, Alhamdulillah, that's the best news we heard in awhile. My wife said to tell each of you thank you for remembering her in du'a. I told her that whatever the outcome it would be Allah's Will and she said that was how she felt. So, Shukran, Thanks.

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

Well, a broken lower leg bone is serious. It is just so much better than cancer or an infection in the bone. What is frustrating is that she told the doctor every three months that it was causing severe pain, making a ripping sound when she would stand, and it didn't feel stable. The doctor continually replied ,"It's only been 3, 6, 9 months." When it got to a year I told her it was time to change doctors. He didn't even use the same manufacturer in both legs which the new doctor said he never heard of anyone doing before. While she was having the second knee replacement there was a woman in the waiting room who said she had the operation and was walking across the street and her leg came apart. I think she said she was bedridden for over a year because of the resultant infection. I don't know how she endured the pain. I feel so bad for her. She is such a kind and gentle woman and has so much cruelty in her life before we met and so much pain and illnesses. When I stayed in a burning vehicle to get her out, she said to me that she couldn't believe that I stayed in the vehicle with her to free her from her "stuck" seat belt as the flames went above the vehicles roof. I said, "What did you think I would leave." She said I was the first person in her life to care enough about her to risk life. I don't believe in Saints, but my wife is the closest person I have ever known to a Saint. She has such a love for God. I have a lot of brothers and sisters. I was estranged from several for a couple of years. I think they only reconciled with me to get her back as a friend. She is becoming more interested in Islam, Alhamdulillah.
