name change

i want to change my daughters name from Amy to a muslim name, how can i do that, do i have to go to court for that, or does the imam change it for me, please let me know.

Why would you want to change her name? In another thread it said that people assume Arabic names are muslim names.......but really it was just the names of the people in the locations. Becoming a muslim must be hard enough without having to also relearn a new name....

:salam2: I think it's a good idea to change the first name to Arabic because that would allow other Muslims to recognize a fellow brother/sister right away. Also, a Muslim name (e.g., Abdullah, Amina etc.) gives a sense of identity for the bearer of the name.
