Navel to the Knee

I know that men and women are required to cover certain areas of the body. Men from the navel to the knee and women everything but their face and hands in public. But I was wondering, I heard somewhere (no proof was gven though) that when women are around only women they must at least cover from the navel to the knee as well. This didn't make too much sense to me, as I'd rather another women see my thigh as appose to my chest. Why is it the navel to the knee when women are alone together? is it because thats what men must cover? Is there a hadith for what women must cover when alone with other women? Of course I do wear more clothes than this when I'm around other women but where I live they have a sisters only swimming time. Do the sisters wear western swim suits or swim suits with long shorts?

A woman can show her neck, hair, forearms, and calves to other women.

That's from the Sisters Only section. If you scroll near the bottom, it turns into a discussion/question about the awrah of women in front of other women. Some of the answers and links posted could help.

thanks Kayleigh I took a look but could not find any hadiths or Quaranic evidence that explained why it's ok to show the navel to the knee to another woman. I read the articles where there seemed to be lots of opinions, but I'm just not sure why people came to this conclusion.

Sorry, I hadn't read through all of it, I just knew the same question was asked.

I found this, which sort of answers the question...

It seems like anything regarding the awrah of women seems to be an interpretation of this hadith:

“There are two kinds of the people of Hell … women who are clothed yet naked, walking with an enticing gait with something on their heads looking like the humps of camels, leaning to one side. They will not enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance.”

Doesn't seem to be very specific to me, but I guess it can work.

Thanks this was the same hadith I saw too
it doesn't really pertain to topic, but I guess it's the closest thing.......
I asked my husband about this issue he wasn't sure about it either, I wonder if a hadith directly related to this actually exists or if this rule came about because it's what the man's arwa is.....
