I'm from a non-practicing Baptist family. I was wondering what i should do first to convert to islam I havent learned arabic yet so I dont know if I need to know it before I convert. I'm at the point in my life were i feel like somethings missing and i've been looking into islam. I truely believe that it is for me,I just need some help on what to do first. If theres any website that would be good for me to learn from plz post them ty

Welcome to the site. Arabic is not a prerequisite for Islaam, in fact most Muslims today do not know Arabic. But nevertheless, it is beneficial to learn. But it shouldn't be a hindrance to your path to Islaam. If you look around on these forums article sections, I'm sure you'll be able to find a great deal of useful information, inshaa' Allaah (God willing). Also, there is a good website which I recommend you visit to increase your understanding of Islaam. See www.islaam.ca

try to get at least 2muslim witnesses from your place and do as have been mentioned by one of the brother.what i did was,i took bath and wudhu,wear proper clothes and say syahadah infront of two witnesses.
you must truly doing it for Allah and you must mean it.if possible plz do it as soon as posible because we don't know what is going to happen the next second.you can learn arabic and other things step by step.but the most important thing is that you believe that Allah is the only God and Muhammad is the messenger

You have to take the shahadah.
Next, at least know methods of purification (wudhu and janabah). With your cleanliness mastered, you can move on learning prayers and slowly advance to fasting and such. This will be, of course, after you have converted in sha Allaah.
Do take your shahadah perhaps a masjid nearby your residential vicinity?
Do tell us.

sister....when you want to convert the first word you have to say is (la ilaha illallah muhammdu rasoolallah).. and then go to arabic classes , inshallah you will also learn how to pray... best of luck sister...

As brother Ayman1 said, the way we enter to the beautiful life of Islam is by saying Shahada infront of 2 witnesses, in a clean state. After that, move forward step by step. Read more books and read the Translation of Quran. Learn how to pray. (Please note that you should pray after entering Islam 5 specified times in a day. If you do not know any duas of Surah al-Fatiha and any other small surah yet, just say Laa-Ilaaha Illallahu Muhammadharrasoolullah or any good Kalimah like that for example Alhamdhulillah (thank is to Allah), Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) in all the situations of Prayer).
Allah mentions in Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow) in Noble Quran, "On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear............" (2:286).
So take step by step my brother. Be hurry to take Shahada, but do not be in a hurry to learn and do all the things in one day or week. It will take time.
Also one thing. Please remember me in your duas because when you take Shahada, you will be just like new born baby who has not even a single sin. MashaAllah.
