Salam Brothers and Sisters,

Alhamdulillah, Ramadan is going very well, except for my sleep problem.

It often occurs me especially during Ramadan that I have been thinking so much about beauty of Islam, glory of Allah, the topics and points about the discussions I am going to have with my friends inshallah in upcoming weekend, all through the night up to Sahri. Eventually, lack of sleep causing me to perform poor at office next day. However, I would like to maintain my sincerity and honesty at work. I am not preferring to breach my commitments towards the customers due to feeling sleepy through out the day.

Can you refer to Quranic verses or Hadith, related to sleep at night early so that I can get some inspirations? By the way, I used to sleep tight before the month of Ramadan without any assistance. It is just this month is packed with so much many opportunities to worship and all.

Allah bless us all.

Assalaam walaikum,

Allah knows the intentions of your heart. That is important.

Do what the Prophet, May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did every night. It is that simple.

Thanks brothers. I recite duas before I sleep. But when I am done, these thoughts start to come up. These thoughts also give me pleasant feelings, so I keep on thinking about them. :(

Thanks for the website link. I will visit inshallah.

Assalaamu alaikum

Islam encourages us to strive hard to find our source of living in a halal way, in the course of doing that Almighty Allah'll reward it as an act of worship. So if Allah bless you with a job you don't have to abuse it, try to justify your income by doing the best of your ability. Allah (SWA) said in the Qur'an

28:26 Said one of the (damsels): "O my (dear) father! engage him on wages: truly the best of men for thee to employ is the (man) who is strong and trusty

Strong means being capable of doing the work, trusty that is keeping all the conditions agreed upon.

With regard to sleeping
Have this in your mind that your body has right upon you, it is an Amanah given to by Allah. lack of sleep can course your health and Allah said

2:195 And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.

Bukhari Volume 1, Book 4, Number 212:
Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "If anyone of you feels drowsy while praying, he should sleep till he understands what he is saying (reciting)."

If you can't sleep try these.
1. After usual sleeping Azkar be doing salatin Nabiyy or some Azkar

2. Play Qur'anic recitations with this you'll experience some tranquility that'll make you sleepy.

Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Islaam isn't a destructive source and when you're dealing with it correctly it doesn't overwhelm you or cause any problems like you've described. If it is causing problems then it is possibly an indication that you're taking a slightly wrong approach to maintaining your Imaan? There are times where it is permissible and even recommended to just ..chill.

Muslims are successful in both deen and dunya and this is acheived through a fine balance. This book might help.

Thanks for the useful Hadiths, mabera.

Thanks for the book reference, Al-Fajr. I am not blaming Islam. I am having temporary problems that I am trying to fix. :)

Assalaam walaikum,

You do not have a problem. You are excited. We do sleep less in Ramadan. Our spiritual self's are alert. We are receptive to the blessings of Allah.

A physician brother told me the other night he keeps busy with people at work. This keeps him on track and awake during the day.

Hint: Eat something before you go to bed; and make sure you are not drinking anything with caffeine after 8:30 p.m.
