Today I had my first accident in my car and it has unnerved me. I had just finished dropping my husband off at his relapse prevention class and was heading home to put my darling yet cranky son down for a nap. I was looking left and getting ready to turn when a guy on a bike hit me. His wheel was bent and I have a small scratch on my hood. No one was hurt thankfully, although my son was freaked out, he is only 2. I had my hijab around my shoulders and put it on, got out and saw if the guy was ok. He had a woman call the cops which I don't mind then gave me a look over. He asked if I was "one of those" ie Muslim which I said yes I was. He called me a bit%^ and said it was all my fault.

The police which were very kind and could tell I was unnerved told me it was his fault since a.) he was riding on the sidewalk and b.) and riding against the flow of traffic. The bike guy filed a case against me so I have no idea what will happen now but i am so skiddish and scared, I have never had an accident since I started driving at 18 (I'm 33 now).

Indeed the believers are patient when struck with hardship. The one whom Allah helps, none can harm. And Allah is with the believers. Be patient sister, May Allah make it easy on you and not let that guy drag you into a mess.

Alhamdulillah! That no one was hurt. Some people dont have the guts to admit their mistake. That guy seemed like one of them, typical arrogant guy. They should be a man and admit their mistakes when it's theirs.
Anyways as for what happened don't be scared, since it isn't your fault and Allah will be with you.Just trust in Allah alone and believe me,all will be smooth and fine.May Allah make it easy for you.Ameen.

Alhamdulillah that no one was hurt in the accident. May Allah taala keep us always in His protection. Ameen

It is unfortunate that the bike person treated you in such a despicable manner. He is clearly a very close minded person for mistreating a person just because he/she is a 'muslim'.

Since the bike person is at fault for the mentioned reasons in your post (and the cop ruled in your favor), InshaAllah the court will also rule in your favor. May Allah taala make it easy for you. Ameen

Wa`alaikum salaam warahmatullaah!

Oh Subhanallah! What that man said is horrible wallah!:( May Allaah SWT guide him for surely he does not realize what it means to be modest for us sisters ! Do not worry yourself over this dear sister. Like Faara said, it would be the best time to thank Alaah set because both you and your son are SAFE. And that's what matters most. As for the faulty-man filling the case, the Haqq(truth) will come about soon enough. It's a disbeliever's words against a Mislimah's!! Most importantly, Allaah SWT is aware of all that happened and bi'ithnillaah the court will rule in your favor. So don't be scared, insha'Allaah! But ukhty, keep in mind that 'if' it happens that for some reason, the court rules in the faulty-man's favor(Inshaa'Alaah ta`aalaa that won't be the case), this is just a test from Allaah. And your best solution should be to have faith and patience. It does not mean you're at fault though. :)

Just a while ago, I myself almost got into my very first accident, but the difference between you and I is that I haven't been driving for as long as you have. It was at a stop light, and since it was green for ME, I had the right to keep going right? But this one lady, along with her baby(who was in his/her baby carriage) decided that they'd cross as well. They were heading to the other side..the light was RED though, for their side. And I panicked, but still kept going... She had just gotten onto the street from the sidewalk when I had to drive by her.. She froze, thinking I'd hit her, I suppose. But I swerved the car a bit to my left and drove on ahead. I heard a whole lot of horns peeping and shouts directed at me.. And this one lady on the same road as me but was heading to the opposite direction of me decided it fit to stick her head out the window to 'shout' at me but a certain finger of hers accompanying her head.. Apparently I was at fault.. Gah! Was a really awful day. Oh and it just so happened that my 12 year old cousin was in the car with me.
It was quite hard to take on the fact the they all witnessed it wasn't me who had done wrong rather it was the sidewalk-lady, but still took her side. I wouldnt be surprised if it was due to me being veiled.. Oh well, Alhamdulillaah `alaa kulli hall!
