Number 786 means 786 and nothing more

When Allah or His messenger want to teach us something, they do so in the clearest way, far from puzzles and mystery numbers. All the efforts made by some Muslims to count letters and relate them to numbers are nothing but a waste of time. Sometimes they do so with good intention to show that our deen is great. Indeed our deen is great, and not in need of such erroneous approaches.

there was nothing like special about 786, it is just when you write the number in arabic numerals they resemble bismillah in Arabic.

I don't recall anybody ever saying that it is a special number, other than what I have described.

Sister Muslimda3ee, this is a very significant number for many indian muslims. This craze had started after a stupid and lame scene in one of the bollywood movie. Here is goes :
The acter is a coolie(someone who lifts ones luggage at a railway station). His service number is 786. And during a firing session he folds this number and keeps it in his pocket. And when the bullets hits this number, it doesnt affect the guy. Huh !

I am brother, jazaaki Allahu khairan, this sounds like SHIRK. The Arabs have the EYE they hang, this is SHIRK. wa istaghfirAllah.

SHIRK is the unforgivable sin, and any sign of it we must abstain from(stay very far away from). Being it was from Bollywood, you do know that cinema has been a very effective tool the shaytan is using. So number one goal of shaytan is have a person do the greatest sin, SHIRK.
