Salamilakum friends. I have always wondered, is it permissible in Islam to recite the Qur'an in one's head while not in state of wudu. I am not sure I am putting that correctly. (Reciting it in everyday life):)

Wa alaykum salam.

I am pretty sure it is permissible, though someone should provide proofs which are not at hand for me at the moment.

However, it is best to do all things in a state of wudu, i don't see why reciting to yourself without it would not be allowed.

AssalaamuAlaikum,

Not in the head but you can recite from your mouth too. But it is much better that you keep ablution (Wadhoo). And whenever you loose ablusion you can do it again on your convenient time.

But when you will touch Quran and read it then you must do Wadhoo.

Allah Knows the best.

Wassalaam.

I totally agree with virtual eye. There is no evidence to suggest that you must be in a state of wudu to recite the quran. Although ofcourse it is preferable, but then one should learn from the example of Bila RA who was, for instance always in a state of wudu. That is why the Prophet SAW once said to Bilal that in paradise I have seen your footstpes where ever I went. What is it that you do? Bilal RA said that he always keeps his wudu and each time he makes a fresh wudu, he performs two rakaat salaat to greet his wudu. May Allah guide us all to the truth.
