Better schools are the Grammar schools which select students based on tests and which are often single sex schools. Its parents responsibility make sure that their children are raised with good Islamic values and are strong Muslims. It is important for Muslims to be educated well in Deen and also in Dunya. But, the most important thing is for us to have Islam as our number one priority.

yeh thats so true, them school come out on top, i dont think the schools will stop teaching religion as of all the conflict they have to make sure its being taught. however its important that eventhough everyone else might not care about r.e. classes that you listen to everything..coz the pupils are quick to pick on stuff so its ur duty to say, actually no sir its like this in Islam.
nearly all the children in the class were okay to debate with me about things, however they all said they dont know what religion they believe in, they do know there families are catholics or protestant but they dont actually follow anything. As they say there are too many religions to choose from to know which it right. so its your job to make them see, Islam makes sense and its the truth.
the teachers find it really easy to go off the 'topic' when there isnt any muslims in class.

religion free

it depends upon circumstances.
in indi whenever the governments change they change the textbooks even history ones to promote their thoughts.
so in a way its dangerous...., depending on many variables like the country ,community, and even the vteacher whos handking the subject .prejudices at any level can do more harm than god.nd in uk it can be a tool for integrating muslims ,which actually means taking them way away from islam.

secondly the concept of eduction in todys world is relgion s something to be keptin the closet.no wonder many people read bible in their toilets.
but islam is-way of life.we cannot let this happen to ourkids .
so best thing is muslim schools.
second best thing is atlest home based islamic education.
lastly i would sy some sort of comparative religon should be good in higher classes.o-our kids can see with their own eyes the foolshness of other religions..but for that they must have an islamic base.so get going now

:salam2:

I think for some reason I am still leaning towards this idea.

I mean, if a parent teaches the kid properly about Islaam and the schools open their venues, then maybe it would have good dawah opportunity! I dont LIKE how it's so closed and secular at school.

I wish in other ways religion could be stressed and implemented into the school system before they were in highschool. LoL here mainly I mean Islaam, but knowing it wouldnt happen hmm...

like it's true I wouldn't let my child participate in christian things but hmm... again I dont know.

I havent even voted on my own poll yet. :p

Trust in Allah swt
I have that in my high school ..I am in my last year...we are generally taught that muslim women are oppressed and they show only the parts of christianity, that they also like. It is just HORRIBLE!

salam, I agree thats what completly put me off islam, when i first heard that my now hubby was muslim I was horrified!!! lol

I think that they should be taught in schools but each religion should be taught by someone who actually is that religion - islam - muslim teacher, christianity - christioan ..... you get the point.

the reason why i think that religion should be taught in schools is so there is more understading between religions, the reason why alot of people are racist or abusive towards a person is usually because they do not understand and the best form of defence is attack. So i think that if religion was taught correctly then there would be a lot more peace. Alhumdillah :tti_sister:

I Love Islam!

asalam alaikum,

In my opinion if they are going to teach religion in public schools then they should include Islam as much as they teach Christianity! It's only fair that way. Why do they insist upon teaching us about Islam if all they say is that women are oppressed and are 'forced' by their husbands to cover and beat bloody if they don't??!! And of course they HAVE to bring up 9/11 and 7/7! Why not? Oh, and while we're at it, let's talk about the Catholic priest who touch little boys in the church!!! I'm tired of those so-called "teachers" telling me everything! lol

"Take off that scarf! No hats allowed in school!" says the teachers, non-Muslim mother, Christian friends, etc!!

It's NOT A HAT! It's Hijab! It will protect me from straingers who look to warm me! Did you but know what Hijab is!!!! :frown:

one in a billion!!
they teach religion at my high school but they don't go into depth....so it's just a little bit about each religion

Salaam,

I think they should implement it. It's your choice whether you want to sign up for a particular religion class or not. It shouldn't be a requirement, just something optional. No one is forcing you. Imagine having an Islamic class - you can give so much dawah, help educate Muslims or even non-Muslims, clear all the misconceptions and bid'ah, and gain further understanding. You got my two thumbs up.

No, because opinions should never taught at the same time teaching religion. and that will be the end result, I have heard about teaches who spent weeks on teaching christianity but a day on Islam. no only in private religious should religion be taught.
