The Egyptians in the al-Qaida network, led by the organization's 2nd leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, would be guided the Americans towards Osama bin Laden, because of the divergences between the two leaders of the network, announced on Thursday the Saudi daily, al-Watan.

The newspaper, citing a regional source close to the terrorism file, also said that the messenger, who was monitored by the U.S. intelligence and who allowed them to find Osama bin Laden, was working, in fact, for Ayman al-Zawahiri.

The daily says that the bearer is not a Kuwaiti, but a Pakistani, whose identity being revealed by the prisoners at Guantanamo.

He would have led the Americans to bin Laden's home, letting them to believe that he knew it was not monitored.

"Egyptians in al-Qaida, that are in lead, in fact, the network, have tried, since bin Laden became ill in 2004, to take over al-Qaida," says the same daily.

According to it, they are the ones who convinced bin Laden to vanish from the tribal areas of northwestern Pakistan, the bastion of Taliban allies, and to seek refuge in Abbottabad, a city quite easily accessible, where he was killed by a U.S. commando on the night of Sunday to Monday.

The daily added that after returning from one of the leaders of Iran's terrorist network, last fall, the Egyptian Saif al-Adl, the Egyptians created a plan to kill bin Laden, in a discreet manner.

After the bin Laden’s death, al-Zawahiri, aged 59, the "brain" and the spokesman of al-Qaida organization, becomes the organization’s first leader and the world's most wanted terrorist.
