Overlooking the Faults of Muslims

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim in this world, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter.” [Muslim]

It is a sign of noble character to overlook the mistakes of our Muslim brothers and sisters. As we err, they err. As we would like to be forgiven and our deficiencies concealed, we should forgive and conceal their deficiencies.

This pertains to the faults of a Muslim as they pertain to his self. This does not apply where the rights of other people are involved. For example, you will conceal the fact that a person doesn’t bathe frequently enough but you will not stay quiet when that same person behaves dishonestly with public funds.

Assaalaam alaikum,

Sister,

If a person does not bathe that is a problem. I have told many to bathe. Foul smells do not speak well of a spiritual being. If you are in my space stinking that becomes public.

wa alaikum as salam wa rahmathullahi wa barakathu...

yes sister you are right.............yea u can advice the person whom you felt smelly n stinky but here it talks about telling to a third person about the faults or imperfections one has which may hurt him badly.............In this case we muslims should conceal ones fault from others and advise those people to correct their faults. But this ain't the matter of one who does a fault which involves other people's right like the above mentioned, behaving dishonestly with the public fund. In this case one should let others know the fault or misbehaving of that person so here he conceals the fault of that person for the welfare of the society.

i hope you understood it clear now :)

Sister,

You raise an important issue. An issue that is not discussed very much. A issue that would rid millions of Muslims of poverty. The public fund. In the early years of Islam the public fund was one of the first items to be erected to protect Muslims. The police were next. Where did that disappear?
