This is my first post and I'm not quite sure where to start, possibly by saying that I am an American student with a Jewish and Christian background ( my mother is Jewish but I chose Christianity as my faith) I found this website while doing a research paper for my Arabic culture class. I'm not here to convert anyone or spread my own religious beliefs because I am here to simply learn. I realize that we are all descendants of Abraham and one God and essentially, therefore, all Jews, Christians and Muslims are brothers. I guess I want to say that there are always going to be crazy, ignorant people in every religion that misrepresent the faith and prepetuate terrible , false stereotypes. There are crazy Christians, crazy Muslims, and crazy Jews. It is dangerous to look at any religion, generalize all the people that practice that religion and form biased stereotypes. The same thing can be said about Americans...there are bound to be some ignorant Americans..but the same way there are bound to be ignorant Egyptians or ignorant Italians or ignorant Brits. We can't look at the ideas and opinions of these ignorant ( George Bush to name an example) people and apply them to the entire American/ Arab popluation. There is no collective American opinion or for that matter Christian opinion despite the media's attempt to portray it so. To me Christianity is about love and tolerance, though others interpret the Bible in their own way and call for other ideas. I'm asking for everyone to go out and educate themselves about each other's religion and culture and to never generalize an entire population of people, whether based on religion or country. The only way to bring tolerance is through education. Educate yourself and then others. Peace be upon you all.
