Please can someone give me a good answer

Salam brothers and sisters, Could you please help me with the following question. I am having some doubts surrounding one issue. As we know the Earth is millions of years old and Humans have lived for Millions of years as well. Christian belief is the Earth is 6000 years old, which is open to debate, however Islam doesn't give a timeline. I was reading up on some Hadith which were Sahih, One said that the distance between Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Nuh was 10 centuries and the difference between Hazrat Nuh and Hazrat Ibrahim was 10 centuries, peace be upon them all. The distance between Prophet Muhammad and Ibrahim was 24 generations i think. Now if we tally these up it would equate to no where near a million years, far less infact. I am having serious issues with this and it is affecting my Islam. Please help. Hoping someone knowledgable can inshAllah try and bring light up on this issue with the Will of Allah

akhi the one hadith that i can find right now is this one

In a hadith narrated by Ibn ‘Abbaas, the Prophet (S) said: “There were ten Qarn between Adam and Noah, all living according to Islam.”

So inshAllah this clarifies it for you, a*!qarn*!is a period of time. It can either mean a century or a generation. If it is ten centuries, then we know that is 1,000 years, or a millenium. If it means ten generations, then that amount of time could be much more than a 1,000 years, because we know that at that time people’s life spans were much longer.

To prove to you that qarn can mean generation as well you can look at this ayah in the quran

ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا آخَرِينَ

Then We produced after them a generation of others. [23:31]

"Century" is a mistranslation. The exact translation from Arabic to English is "generation."

As far to my knowledge, Earth has been around for Billions of years but humans have only been around for thousands of years.Where did you get the information that we are millions of years old ?

My thoughts exactly. Life on earth may be old, earth may be older. Human race may not be. This narration is particularly about Human race not earth. Also, we know that when Allah send Adam Alaihi Salam on earth, everything else was already here i.e plants and animals. Allaah tells us in the Qur'an that He taught Adam Alaihi salam the names of all the things.

However, I don't know if Allaah has revealed to us anything about when He created the earth.

According to a lot of these scientists we've been around for more than 6000 years old, by fossil evidence. Millions may have been an exagerration but we've been around a long time, a lot longer than 6000 years

"Just" six thousand years? Well that's surprisingly short time. May be you meant sixty thousand?

If science says human race is only six thousand years old, the hadeeths fit in in a jiffy. Adam aliahi salam and Nuh Alaihi salam are known to have lived for 900+ years. Think how much time ten qarns will take? Six thousands years may actually be kinda quick by that standard.

The Christians says 6000 years, so i was using that as an example. Scientists say we've been around for a lot longer than 6000 years. I just want to know the Islamic position.
