I was reading something online and this verse was quoted

Alif, Lam, Mim. The Romans have been defeated in the lowest land, but after their defeat they will be victorious within three to nine years. The affair is Allah's from beginning to end. On that day, the believers will rejoice. (Qur'an, 30:1-4)

When i went to Quranic sources i know of none of the translation had the word "lowest land"
mashallah since there are many people on the forum that read and know arabic could someone verify the translation of the verse
thank you

thank you brother
Im seriously shocked when muslims try to change the translation to verify their claim like its a bad impression cuz we dont need to lie Allah (swt) has provided us with truth why do they translate it wrong to prove something right when the person will look up by himself he will know that they mis quoted him/her

I'm referring to translation that I have, no such thing mentioned "3 - 9 years" instead it says "in few years" and also "at nearest land", I can't find the word "lowest land".

Allah knows best.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

In this verse (30:3), "Lowest" means closest or nearest to the land of Sham (Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan..) as mentioned in Tafsir Al-Qurtubi.

there are times, when translating any language when certain words are used and could've used a better word. i speak multiple languages and there are times i may go shopping in a store in america where they may have several translations on a product but the translation is very poor. what i mean is that the words might be okay, but if you wanted to be technical the words would be incorrect.

this can also happen when translating the quran from arabic into english etc.

one example is in surah ALAQ. the first word is IQRA! depending on whose translating it may say that IQRA means read or it can mean to proclaim or say out loud. therefore, proclaim is used and read is put into parentheses, probably due to the context of the surah.
