As I understand, Holy Quran was being written be many companions on various pieces of skins or materials available at that time, later in Hazarat Umer or Usman time the Quran was collected and with a great care complied. In a sense this is the whole Quran as we have it today in a book form, in the lifetime of the prophet it was being revealed.
The earliest copies are in museums in Turky and some other Islamic countries.

Uthman (ra) copy (one of the earliest) is present in Tashkent Museum, Uzbekistan.
