Poem 8
It was a dream I once dreamt
If only I understood everything that it meant
I would have turned back time to take the moment in again.
I saw it and approached it in amazement,
It was a piece of Jannah
I only felt contentment
Tears were for its welcome
I knew it was a moment of seldom
Praying prayers seeking only His pleasure
Regretting the sins
Repentance was the only measure
Welcomed by its warm, loving nature
I walked dazed through the crowds
Every instant I tried to capture,
What is mine and what I belong to
It was the spiritual journey I had to pursue
The lands only echoed the words of the Messenger (saw)
The winds only spoke of His remembrance
And the Sun and the Moon only shined from His beauty
The Noors’ were like two beacons of light to the dunya, remembering only the reality
I wished a thousand wishes to make my moment last forever
Instead, I left there a part of me, that by Allah’s will I will meet again later
It is now a hearts yearning that is always felt
A yearning that only makes the heart melt
A desire of the soul that cannot be told
A story of the mind that only the eyes behold
A cry of its insides that which nobody knows
An emptiness in the spiritual soul
Yet there is a token of hope that we shall meet once again
To talk and reflect on times’ end
To understand everything that it meant
To dream again a dream I once dreamt.
