Can anyone please tell me what exactly does progressive muslims means and which countries really are progressive muslims?
does progressive = liberal/secular?

ok 'pac. You are going to get a lot of very negative answers to this one.
As I understand it, so called progressive muslims are normally touted as those who are friendly and open to the West. Many muslims would consider these progressives as little better than hypocrites. As we all know, it is VERY important to follow Qu'aran and the sunnah. Moderate, or progressive muslims often dress, act , and think very similarly to secular Europeans or Americans.
I will leave the detailed answers to others, as I know you will , inshallah, be recieving many of them.

I had posted a note and site of the Rand Corp. paper which is being funded by the State Department, the CIA, and the United States AId to Developing Countries . There is a movement to fight Islam using tactics learned from the COld War ( not my words).
There is a momement using scholars and businessmen to separate Muslims. Money will be allocated to masjids and businesses who are "good". Please understand by money I am speaking of millions of dollars. This is the latest war against Islam ( not my words).
A progressive Muslim is simply a Muslim who is secular. A Muslim in name only. A progressive Muslim does not believe in the divinity of the Holy Quran. There are scholars who are now interpreting the Quran i.e. literaray criticism. A progressive Muslim thus is one who questions the role of the Prophet (swas); a progressive Muslims sees the Holy Prophet (swas) as a social leader addressing the political problems of Arabia thereby Islam becomes a solution within a limited historical context and not the Mercy to Creation that Allah has given us.
A progressive Muslim thus gives lip service to Islam. Please bear in mind what the antithesis of progressive implies. A fundamental Muslim. Now that we have the polarties it is easy to point fingers. If you are progressive..you are not a fundamentalist ( terroirists supporter). If you are a progressive by defintion you do not abide by sharia. If you are progressive the laws of the state are sovreign over the Law of Allah ( the fundys).
Once again it is important to understand..the degree of faith a person possesses is a very personal matter. I can not judge the depth of faith of any soul. I am simply trying to uncover the veils between this soul and her Creator. I state this because as Muslims we can not allow anyone to label us.
On a methaphysical level lables bring separation from our Master. If I say I am this...i separate form all that is not this. If we allow those who are not Muslims to label us conservative, liberal, progressive, terrorists, or plain simple crazy...we are permitting two evils. The first evil is we are being pulled apart as segements of an orange..unprotected by the rind. We bow down to the label because it has limited our perspective and in a sense taken away our freedom. The second evil is the most troubling...it separates us from Allah. We are of the same soul...we are the droplets of water..wanting unity with the ocean ( not my unique thought).
Please we are Muslims...we are brothers and sisters, all willing to serve our Master...as Muslims we bow down to none other ...He has given us so much...let us look to Love, Truth, Nobility, and let no man, and no false ideology tear us apart.

they are the people ( they don t deserve to be called muslim ) in muslim country that want to limit islam in the mosque only. like exaclty a church in christian and western society. even if you want to wear hijab wear it in your home or in your mosque ..that s it.

i think a progressive muslim is someone that believes in compromising islam for non-muslims or non-muslim societies. he would be a muslim that would say that hijab is too oppressive for the modern day woman. he would say that dating is necessary today in order to marry the right person. he would be a muslim that discourages islamic dress. he would be a muslim that is concerned with inter-religious talks. he is quick to apologize whenever someone commits an attack in the name of islam; his apology makes all muslims look responsible instead of placing the accountability on the criminal. overall, he's embarassed of islam.
