punishment from Allah SWT

i wanted to ask : if we are suffering from a disease or an illness and we are 100% sure that it is a punishment from Allah SWT for what we did what should one react?

1. pray for forgiveness only and try to do good deeds as much as we can
2. pray for foriveness and try to do good deeds as much as we can AND ask also Allah SWT to cure us

do we have the right to pray that Allah SWt cure us , or should we be patient until Allah SWT Forgives us and should only and only ask for forgiveness but not for cure as it is a punishment

please it is very important

I doubt that Allah would cause sickness to enter your body unless you did something extremely evil, such as murder a man on purpose.

However, you should always ask Allah for forgiveness and do as much good deeds as you can; sick or not. I would say that when you are sick, you should ask Allah to forgive you. This ismy opinion only, and I am no scholar. However, remember that sometimes the student is more knowledgeable than the teacher (some phrase I made up).
