i think according to islam it is haram , but if there is a risk for the mother 's life it is ok unless it is haram and allah sobhanho wa taala will punish who do like this

Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah.

There was a time i heard shaikh Muhammad Salah discussing about the issue, he said unless there is a great risk for the lady, for example her life is in danger if she attempt having another child, if there is a threat to the life of the mother, or both mother and child may be in life and death situation, all this has to be certified by an Honest Physician.
