Question about Baptism

As salamo alaikome

When I was a Christian I was told that in order to get into heaven you must be baptised by water which most sects taught total submersion except the Catholics who believe trickling water over the head of the baby while praying is sufficient enough. Needless to say I have been baptised more than one time in my life as I searched for the truth in religion.

However when I had my children I decided that I would not force religion on them especially since by that point I didnt believe I was successful in finding the truth about religion. There was always something in each one that made me doubt so why should I force my children to believe in something I didnt even find truth in???? Anyway none of my children have been baptized and I have always feared that maybe I made a mistake because in the bible even Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. I know that the bible has many errors in it so I am not sure what to believe about that.

The only thing I am sure of (and with all of my heart) is that Islam is the true religion and the Quran is the word of Allah. I have read Quran almost 5 times now cover to cover and I cant remember reading one word in it that suggests we must be baptized by water or we will not be allowed to enter heaven.

Please my dear brothers and sisters put my mind at ease if you can and tell me what Islam teaches about Baptism by water???? Is there something in Hadith that I havent read about this subject because really I cant remember reading ANYWHERE in Quran about this. Am I safe to believe it is one of the falsehoods of the bible????

Asalaam Aleakum,

There is no baptism by immersion or otherwise in Islam. I guess the only comparitive thing we do is wudu and ghusl, which you can use water (or clean sand or even a rock if there is no water). But that is a form of purification before prayer and has nothing to with whether or not we get into jannah. (heaven)

And I've read and researched christianity before choosing Islam, I thought baptism was just the outward showing of "salvation?" I did not think it would hinder a person from entering heaven, it was the action of the heart that was judged primarily. But nonetheless, there is no baptism in Islam. Instead we have the five pillars and the strongest of those pillars is the belief and utterance of the shahada.

dont worry sister. you did not do anything wrong.

there is no baptism in Islam. in Islam, person will go to paradise based on faith and deeds (and ofcourse mercy of Allah).

regarding jews and christians books...we muslims are told to neither beleive nor disbeleive them. because we dont know whts true and whts false.
