Salam
I was talking with the boy I tutor today (he is a born Muslim in a Muslim family), and we came up with a question that neither of us could answer.
If a person wrongs another person (let's say, petty theft or spreading a rumor), and they admit it and apologize, and the victim forgives them, will God still punish the person for it? What about if it is a major crime (murder) and you admit it, serve your punishment on Earth with the forgiveness of the victim's family?
I told the boy I would ask here and let him know the answer the next time I tutor him.
Thanks in advance for any help.
