QUESTION ABOUT HUNTING IN ISLAM

I wish to know if anybody knows if hunting flying animals with the gun is halal in Islam.
I'm asking this,because I was reflecting about the fact that if the animal dies in flight its boold remains in its body,while if it falls on the ground and dies before being slaughtered its boold remains in its body.It's just to learn more.whoever knows it,please be clearful...

I used to go hunting along with my uncle the basis of hunting a flying animal is it should not be shot dead you should shoot it so it just gets injured and falls down so you can make it halal. If its dead by the time you reach it then you can't consume it.
