:salam2:

My sisters and brothers, I visited an islamic site today and saw a video on it that i didnt quite like. It was a masked man, he was ridiculing Christianity. More specifically the concept of trinity. Anyway to cut it short, I believe Muslims should not ridicule any other religion. I dont remember the reference to Quran at the moment but i know Allah (swt) has ordered all of us Muslims not to utter bad words about anyone's god so that they dont say bad things about Allah.

Although as i was browsing through google videos for islamic videos, i came across such poisonous videos against islam the likes of which i had never seen before. Yet, i feel the need to express that we should not ridicule anyone's religion even though they may not do the same way.:astag: This is the difference between a muslim and a non-muslim.

Brother alot of these videos are not made by muslims but jews who want to cause greater enmity between christians and muslims .

When reason reaches its peak and the souls of His lovers feel helpless and disabled, they grow restless and stretch their hands in supplication, seeking comfort for their burning souls. When every manner of search within their power has been consumed, the doorway to Him is opened.”

Salaam Brother muhammad.abdullah,

Well and correctly said. We just have to be strong in face of stupidity and provocation and rest assured in Allah's words:

"...Truth stands out clear from falsehood" 2:256

Assalamu Alaikum,

Brother Muhammad Abdullah, you posted the following:

Yet, i feel the need to express that we should not ridicule anyone's religion even though they may not do the same way.

To begin with, I'd like to thank you for starting this thread. It's a very important topic.

Now, moving on to what you have posted, if you meant [by saying that "I believe Muslims should not ridicule any other religion" and " i feel the need to express that we should not ridicule anyone's religion"] that we Muslims should not show that all other religions except Islam are false, then I do not agree with you.

And God Almighty has also made it very clear that the belief in the trinity actually makes one a disbeliever:

They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 5:73]

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 4:171]

After the advent of the prophethood of Muhammad [peace be upon him], anyone -who received the message of Islam in a clear and undistorted way- and then died as a disbeliever will enter Hell and abide therein forever.

I have submitted several posts that deal with this subject, and which contain the translation of the meanings of Qur'anic verses and a saying of the Prophet [peace be upon him]. Please click on the following links to read them:

However, if you mean that a Muslim should be careful not to make fun of and use harsh words when inviting others to Islam and when explaining the falsehood of their religion, then I certainly do agree with you.

To begin with, I believe you meant the following verse of the Qur'an when you said "I dont remember the reference to Quran at the moment but i know Allah (swt) has ordered all of us Muslims not to utter bad words about anyone's god so that they dont say bad things about Allah":

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 3:108]

And look how Allah has ordered Moses and Aaron [peace be upon them] to speak to Pharaoh:

Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance. Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [ Allah ].

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 20:42-44]

And God Almighty also ordered us to call to Islam with wisdom and good instruction:

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 16:125]

And when we speak with the People of the Book, we should remember the following verse:

And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 29:46]

Also, a Muslim must be careful and should also bring up the beliefs of Islam that will most likely be a pleasant surprise to non Muslims.

For example, when Christians know that Muslims believe that Jesus Christ [peace be upon him]:

1- is a Messenger of God Almighty.

2- was born miraculously from the honourable Virgin Mary.

3- performed miracles such as healing the sick and raising the dead

4- that the name of Jesus Christ [peace be upon him] is mentioned more times in the Qur'an than the name of Muhammad [peace be upon him].

then great barriers against Islam will be lifted from the hearts of Christians.

And if you add to Christians that there's a chapter of the Qur'an named after the Virgin Mary, they will really be impressed.

If you further inform Christians that Muslims believe in a miracle Jesus Christ [peace be upon him] performed that Christians do not know about, then they'll really be curious about that miracle. Christians will be absolutely taken aback when they find out that we Muslims believe [as mentioned in the Qur'an] that Jesus Christ spoke when he was just a baby in the cradle.

When talking to Jews, mention that Moses and Aaron [peace be upon them] are mentioned in the Qur'an and that Moses is the prophet who's most mentioned in the Qur'an, even more than the name of Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him].

You can also mention that one of the wives of our Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] was of Jewish ancestry. Her name was Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab [Safiyyah daughter of Huyay ibn Akhtab]. Tell the Jews that Muslims love and honour Safiyyah bint Huyay [may Allah be pleased with her] and title her "the mother of the believers" because Allah the Exalted said:

The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are [in the position of] their mothers.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 33:6]

...................................................................................................

In short, a Muslim should be well aware that the only religion acceptable to Allah is Islam, and he should not hide that fact when speaking to non Muslims.

God Almighty said:

It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it.

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 9:33]

At the same time, a Muslim should also avoid ridiculing, using insulting language and other rude acts when calling non Muslims to Islam and instead speak to them gently, with wisdom and good instruction.

God Almighty said:

Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, " Allah . And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error."

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 34:24]

Notice that Allah the Exalted ordered His Messenger [peace be upon him] to tell non Muslims "And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error." As Muslims [and especially Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him-] we know that Islam is the true religion and all other religions are false. And yet Allah tells us that we should state the above statement in order to grab the attention of non Muslims and in order that they would be more inclined to listen to the message of Islam.

I hope you all the best brother Muhammad.

I ask for Allah's forgiveness if I had said something wrong.

Best regards,
