Reached by Allah
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
“Stand properly in the ranks of prayer, bring your shoulders in tandem with one another and fill the gaps in your ranks; be kind to your brothers who, with their hands, want to put you in the right position. Do not leave any gaps for Satan. Allah Almighty reaches those who reach the ranks of prayer. Who leaves the ranks, Allah Almighty too shall leave him.” [Abu Dawood, Salaat]
The proper way to stand for prayer in congregation is to:
1. Stand shoulder to shoulder.
2. Leave no gaps in between, for this allows Satan to move between the worshippers.
3. Complete one row before forming another.
4. If another Muslim tries to move you to fix your position, take it positively, appreciate it, and don’t get upset with him.
5. Don’t stand apart from the rows of the worshippers to pray separately. He who joins the rows is approached by Allah Almighty and he who leaves them is abandoned by Allah Almighty.
