Remember me in Du'a, Min fudlak/fudlik

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

I hope this doesn't sound stupid, dramatic, or like the typing of a hypochondriac, but I am fairly certain that I have neck and head cancer. I have had sever pain in the neck and lower skull area for awhile. I have lumps inside my neck under my jaw below my ears. And, I fatigue very rapidly lately. I told my doctor about it at my last visit and he said he would order lab work and check me on my next visit. The problem is that I only have an appointment every six months. I had to go to the ER once because it felt like I was being strangled. In all honesty, if I didn't have to take my wife to the doctor's tomorrow in another town, I don't think I would get out of bed because of the severe pain I am having. I know it is for my own good and that, Insha Allah, Allah will use it for my good. I am not looking for sympathy as I was blessed to discover Islam and have lived most of my life searching for Allah and his path for believers. So, Insha Allah, I am on the path that leads to Jannah. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to have my TTI family remembering me in their du'a (I don't know the plural or is that the plural?) that Allah will make me do what is right. I don't like to say help me because in my mind Allah isn't anyone's helper. Helpers tend to be assistants and we all know Allah is Maaliki Yawmid-Deen. I hope, Insha Allah, that it is an infection or something that can be treated. In Christianity, preachers often tell the congregations that everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die to get there. :)

Walaykumsalaam waa rahmatullahi..

I will include you Insha'Allah in my dua brother Frank.

Going through hardship such as sickness and pain is a way of expiation of sins, so pray that Allah subhaana waa ta'ala makes it a source for forgiveness of all your sins. Let me share a few hadeeth with you :)
Abu Hurairah also reports that Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, said: "For every misfortune, illness, anxiety, grief, or hurt that afflicts a Muslim -even the hurt caused by the pricking of a thorn - Allah removes some of his sins." Ibn Mas'ud said: "I visited the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while he had a fever. I exclaimed: 'O Messenger of Allah! You have a high fever! ' He said: 'My fever is as much as two among you [might have]. ' I asked: 'Is it because you have a double reward?' He replied: 'Yes, that is right. No Muslim is afflicted with any hurt, even if it is no more than the pricking of a thorn, but Allah wipes off his sins because of it and his sins fall away from him as leaves fall from a tree'."

Suhaib ibn Sinan narrated that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "How remarkable is the case of the believer! There is good for him in everything, but this is not the case for anyone except for the believer. When the believer receives any good, he is thankful to Allah, and gets a reward. And when some misfortune befalls him, he endures it patiently, for which he is (also) rewarded."

'Ata ibn Rabah related that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say: "Shall I show you a woman of Paradise?"I said: "Yes, indeed." He said: "A black woman came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: 'I suffer from epileptic fits, and because of these, (at times) my body becomes uncovered. Would you invoke Allah, the Exalted One, to cure me of this disease? ' The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: 'If you wish, you can be patient and you will attain Paradise (for this suffering). But if you prefer, I will pray to Allah, the Exalted, to cure you of it?' The woman said: 'I will be patient,' then added: 'I become uncovered (when I have fits), so invoke Allah for me that I do not become uncovered. ' So the Prophet, peace be upon him, prayed for her."

The above in no way suggest that you should not seek cure for your ailment by the way.

“Verily, the believer who is stricken with pain and fever is like a piece of steel that is placed in fire and its rust is removed, leaving only its good part.”

الحمدلله على كل حال
Assalamualaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

InnaAllah ma'ana. Allah is with us. Who knows, that of all the sufferings and pains that one's feel in this world, it is due to Allah wants that person to 'meet' The Al-Mighty Lord on The Day of Judgment with only good deeds as his bad deeds has been 'washed' away with the pains he felt in the world. :)

No worries, we don't see it as dramatic or something. It does feels nice to be there for our brother/sister at times when he/she needs the other. Indeed, our Ummah is like one body.

I'm sure you've heard that even those who may suffer from severe injuries and pains that has no possibilities to be cure anymore, but with Allah's will, that person live for so many years. On the other hand, there are also people who seem to be very fit and healthy but it is he who was to be destined to leave this world earlier than the sicks.

Everyday is sure is a blessing. A blessing to be a Muslim. A blessing to know Allah. A blessing to know that we are living in this world only for a short time. A blessing while struggling for our real life fi Yaum Akhirah. Subhanallah wa bi hamdihi.

May Allah ease your pain, akhi and give us the strengths to do our Jihad in this world.

Wassalam.
