Reply to "salaam"

When one approaches us and says salaam in a casual manner, what are the acceptable replies in Arabic?

Salam is the short way for the Islamic greeting
I dislike saying only ( salam ) coz if we say the complete greeting Allah will reward us 30 hasant , it's better than saying salam , one word

about replying , u can say ( wa 3laikom Assalam ) and complete it ..
salam means peace in Arabic , it's pronounciated as ( slaam )

This is actually a big peeve of mine when brothers address me with just "salaam", or if they send me an email/instant message starting it out with "salaams" (making it plural).
