Responding to political threads

Assalaam walaikum,

In a recent thread Sister Esperanza asked why people do not respond to the more serious threads.

I think this is a serious issue. I have stopped responding to many. I am still learning what the correct response should be. By correct I have to gain knowledge as to what the Quran and Sunna tell us what to do.

In no means am I justifying any killing.

I think we can engage in a fruitful discussion.

Walaikkum Assalamu wa rahamatullahi wa barakatuhu,

It is good to know what is happening around the world, especially these political events. But, are we knowledgeable enough to discuss this in the light of Qur'aan and Sunnah? Because, these are quite complex issues. I would leave it to the advice of a Scholar.

Politics in Islam According to the Quran and Sunnah

Also, it will be good to listen to what scholars say and it is better for us to follow their advice because if we all go by emotions, we would end up being wrong. The Qur'aan and Sunnah has the wisdom. Emotions create fitna.

I would ask you to listen to especially the last video of Shaykh Al-Albaani's advice. It sums it up. Most political news is either a rebellion or killing or blaming the rulers or criticizing them. I am not saying in this with respect to any of the current situation but I am just saying in general. A muslim should be aware of these before speaking regarding it.

The other way to look at it is, why 'political threads' in TTI? And, when they do appear, a responsible person should respond thoughtfully, the reactions if any should be grounded, minus the hate. Internet forums should be seen as best place to mould and learn to be a more aware, knowledgeable, reliable person.

TTI often does end up getting news reports from around world. Every nation, has its own ground reality. Unless someone is a current affairs observer, its not possible to understand the new turns the current affairs take. Its important to realize that political situations that media reports, are usually clouded in bias. The reports are often designed to evoke a reaction in home audience! Very few news agency, present the ground reality in a neutral manner, without fabricating, in a non sensational tone. Often one has to read the coverage from different agencies to get a clear picture. Rather than the TV/ video media, usually the print media has more thorough coverage, rigorous analysis and observations.

The current world, criticizes past generations and civilizations for many of worlds wrongs, and use it as a pretext to throw away moral values at the first hint of discomfort. The way the affairs are now, the future generation would blame this generation, even more critically, if we are not careful.

Modern Politics, is a minefield. And more mines are being plotted. May Almighty save humanity!

Assalaam walaikum,

Brother,

This is a serious issue. I do not have time to play. We are discussing our duty. It is that simple. And thus I beg to ask the question and seek genuine and correct answers as are in the Laws of Allah.

I found some answers that had me think and reflect deeply. The profound text is the Al-Wala wa-l Bara
and it can be read in its entirety on this link :http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80445
