Roosters See Angels

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If you hear the crowing of the rooster, then ask Allah of His Bounty, for it has seen an angel. And if you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan, for it has seen a devil.” [Bukhari]

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) loves being asked and though we are entirely dependent on him we tend to forget in the busy routine of living to make Duas. Thus, the rooster’s crow can function as a reminder for us to specially ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) for His continued favours; and the braying of donkeys and barking of dogs can be our alarm clocks to wake us up to seeking Allah’s protection.

Asalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakahu Sister, Suban'Allah we are given signs from Allah Subana Wa Ta'ala always through right guidance to help us understand. May I ask about the barking of the dogs is this another hadith also? , do the dogs also see the devils? And is it only roosters that see angels, does this include when they crow at the break of dawn we are to make dua? JazakiAllah Khairan

Abu Dawud reported in his Sunan that Jabir Ibn Abdullah narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:" If you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys by night, seek refuge in Allah, as they see what you cannot see". Albani and others classified this Hadith as authentic.

So, if we contemplate the words of this Hadith along with the words of the Hadith reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim narrated by Abu Hurairah from the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), it could be possible to interpret the barking of dogs at Fajr time because they see the Satans flee away passing wind. Satans do not flee away at fajr Azan only, but they flee away at every Azan, as stated in the Hadith.

So its clear from hadeeths that dogs see devils and it’s the time for us to seek refuge in Allah!
Abu Hurayra (RA) narrated that the prophet (SAW) said: "When u hear the crowing of a cockerel, ask for Allah's Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel. When u hear the braying of donkeys, seek refuge with Allah from Shaytaan for (their braying indicates that) they have seen a devil."
[Recorded by al-Bukhari (6/350) and Muslim (17/47)]

Hope your doubt is clear sis *smile*

Mash'Allah Sister, Thank you. I did not know this about the barking dogs and I also did not know this that the Satans flee when hearing the Adhan. I will always remember this now Insha'Allah upon hearing dogs bark as I do not live in the country (although this is always been my dream to do so, Insha'Allah one day) so I do not hear roosters when they crow or donkeys when they bray. JazakiAllah Khairan
